It is always recommended to get new performance struts on lowering springs. However, I probably got lucky since I have been on Megan Racing for 1 year and Eibach Sportline for another 2 years, and the stock struts are still fine.

Wow, one has to wonder how a shop/mechanic can jump from external coolant/oil leak, to it somehow running into the exhaust system from just a visual inspection. At least you got it fixed for a reasonable amount. Haha, actually after I post that issue onto the Yelp these guys called me rightaway say...

Alright just an update on the current issue. A new catalytic converter is installed yesterday with 2 NGK O2 sensors. NO level drop from 1588 ppm to 0 ppm. Awesome result, passed like flying colors. Total cost around $500. Still a lot but much better than the dealer's $1100 something.

Smog fail with probably cat or headgasket fail

I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to post this since the problem is related to both the engine and emission. The issue is I went to the CA smog check, ended up fail with way too high NO (1588 ppm, MAX 467 ppm). HC and CO are both normal, and even below the average (HC: 5, AVE 9, MAX 61; ...

Eibach Pro for the springs? Sportline is probably a little bit too low according to your spec. They are pretty cheap actually.

When you replace the water pump, just replace everything that it is related to.

I used to have thermostat gasket leak, and it just stop leaking by itself. But I'm going to change the thermostat and gasket soon I guess.

For just the lowering springs, Eibach Sportline is awesome. Decent drop, smooth ride, and I don't know if it was just me since I'm with those for 1.5 years and I'm still waiting for the struts to blow lol. And for the bump stop, I think you can just cut it shorter.
