Your photo looks like the pulley can lift straight off. On my motor mount plate, no matter where we moved the tensioner arm to, the pulley was behind the plate at least a little bit. But I fixed that plate's ass good with a drill and hammer in about 5 minutes! It wouldn't surprise me if there's a co...

Changing the tensioner idler pulley for PS / AC belt.
My 5 Neon SXT ATX had the pulley go bad on the tensioner for the power steering and AC belt. Once I got it apart I saw that the ball bearing was all locked up and out of lube. But getting it apart? That took some work. First, my brother and I went to work on it with the motor mounting plate still in...

I took the pump out today and looped the lines together. It made it a lot easier to steer, but not as good as power steering. The idler wheel on the tensioner is definitely locked up, but the tensioner swings up enough to make me think I could get that damn bolt loose without taking the mounting pla...

I got a junkyard pump out of a 2003 Neon SXT, it had the tank on it and I didn't disturb it or try to remove it. I'll be going out to my car shortly, I will look at it. Maybe I can loosen the pressure line nut and pull it down a fraction of an inch, just enough to let the fluid and air pass through ...

Everything is reassembled, it'd be hard to get in there and get the pressure line off, I think. What if I were to take the return hose off and direct it into a jug and drive for a while with lots of steering wheel turns to get the excess fluid out of the system, and just refill it all once I can get...

Driving a power steering Neon with no power steering. Safe?
My 5 Neon SXT ATX lost the power steering a few days ago. I knew the power steering pump had bad bearings, but then the power steering belt tensioner pulley went and locked up on me. Threw the belt right off. Today I changed the pump, not realizing the pulley was lunched. After throwing the belt 4 t...

I changed the center motor mount (passenger side) today. That fixed the problem. It was a pain in the ass to get this job done. I had a "friend" scheduled TWICE to do it for me for $150. Both times he cancelled at the last minute. So fine, screw him, I paid my brother $50 to help do it in his heated...

I pulled the plastic cover off the frame rail today and looked in the hole for the center mount. The hole where the Torx T55 big bolt comes out. The bolt head is not centered in the frame rail hole, it is a bit below center. If I remember correctly, it was centered when I did a timing belt / water p...

Big vibration in forward gears?
This problem started out small in my 5 SXT ATX, and got bigger over a few weeks. When I put it in any forward gear, I will feel a big vibration from metal hitting metal. It doesn't do it in Neutral or Reverse. At first I thought the torque struts / motor mounts were getting worn, so I partly filled ...

P0340 code came... and went ?
I was driving my 5 SXT ATX today and all was well, I haven't had to change a sensor or fix anything in 25000+ miles. Then all of a sudden the check engine light comes on, and the engine loses power. To accelerate from a stoplight I had to just barely touch the gas, any more throttle would just make ...

How to burn CD for RBK stereo?
My 5 SXT ATX has the RBK CD player / am-fm stereo. I tried burning 20 .mp3 songs (2 MB to 4 MB each in file size, and yes, they are downloaded and not from actual CDs) to a CD using InfraRecorder, and again using a simple Send To -- CD Drive burning method. Neither worked. The InfraRecorder Audio CD...

I took the silencer out of the air intake system on my 5 SXT ATX, and put in a K&N filter I had laying around, and it makes a loud deep rumble when you get on the gas hard. But the car is such a SLOW steaming POS turd-mobile, that's it's rather annoying to hear the intake rumble and still be slowly ...

New Gates water pump seeping coolant
I ordered some parts from Modern Performance recently, amongst them was a new not remanufactured Gates water pump. I put it on with a new timing belt and tensioner and all was well. About 2000 miles later, I had my Neon in a garage where a friend of mine works, and we spent all Saturday morning with...

New rear brakes are dragging and getting hot.
I had to replace the rear brake shoes on my 5 SXT due to the shoes falling apart. I only changed the left side so far, but the brake shoes are still rubbing and getting the drum too hot. I have backed off the auto adjuster screw all the way until it is completely loose, and I opened the brake bleede...

Are those sealed ball bearings or sealed roller bearings, or some type of sealed bearing where you can't regrease them? What a shit ass design! And I don't have a 30mm socket, so I'd have to buy that too! Even my '89 Turbo Spirit had totally serviceable rear wheel bearings, every time these idiot ca...
