First time out!!!!
First time out!!!!
I wasn't expecting much cuz the flex pipe in the downpipe is broken and i lost all my low end but i decided to go with my buddies and hit the track anyway.
I am glad I did, I had lots of fun and got in about 5runs. And now i know where I am at power wise and acceleration wise.
I am #72 #118 is an 06 GTI
1st run I got of the clutch too quick and spun all through 1st and ended up going to 2nd too quick
2nd run i bogged down and didn't have enough
#32 was a WRX with exhaust
3rd run i broke 17:) lol my 60 still was pretty bad
4th run i got a bit more traction and tried power shifting but shifted a bit to high (6800rpms). The power drops off at 5800 so its not worth it to go much more than 6200.
#34 was a build foxbody stang.
5th run was my best and last cuz my buddies wanted to leave
here are some vids i took:
SRT that met up with us there ran 13.4 pretty much stock.
12sec. very fast evo
my friends 13sec. 240sx but here he had foulled plugs:(
and finally me vs. a very built 12sec. mustang

I know my reaction time sucks haha. But i had no clue what i was doing with the lights and lighting up the tires etc. I did spin um to heat the tires up before i ran. It was quite funny that i was able todo that cuz a Z28 in front of me couldn't light em up to save his life. Tho i am not sure if my clutch liked that.
The track is NYIRP about 45mins south of Rochester, NY its much cheaper than lebenon or NH. It was $13 for all day test and tune.

I have KDWs and they tend to heat up nicely and stick better when warm thats y i did it.
I will def. lower the pressure next time. I was thinking autox when i went out which means running at 40psi. I guess I should have went down to 34 in the front.

Don't worry about the reaction times, they will come with practice. And besides, who cares it was just test and tune. When bracket racing I am in the .500 - .540 area (.500 being perfect) but when at a test and tune nite, its very possible for me to be in the .600's or .700's.
And for anyone else in the western NY area, go to NYIRP. It is a great small town operation and the owner puts his heart into that track. He's the kind of owner that would come over to your pit area and drink a beer with you when the racing is all done. There were many times that our little group would be hanging out at the track till 1a or 2a after racing had long since stopped and we were the last ones there. Great place.

Damn, sounds like a nice place. Wish I lived closer to it.
Even though it wasn't perfect by any means, I miss 75-80. A little track that you could leave your stuff laying around without anyone messing with it (aka Capital).
Mason Dixon is my track of choice these days.

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Me too. Racing down here is so cut throat. People are showing up with quarter to a half a million in their damn tow rigs, then they roll a mid 7 sec dragster or two out of the trailer with all the latest and greatest electronics. And this is for a normal Sunday bracket race, where it is $2000 to win. If I had that much money in an operation I wouldn't pull it out of the trailer for less than $10,000 - $15,000.Danteneon wrote:Damn, sounds like a nice place. Wish I lived closer to it.
Its so much more down to earth up there.

shift at or just below redline. It is true that max power is around 5500-5800 but when you shift you drop too far out of the power band, so even though you are not making peak power at 6800 in the lower gear, you are still making more power than you would in the next gear...or so I have read.
