Have some questions about AutoX or Rally racing, like what types of tires are good or where to start for suspension, ect... ask them here.

2gn (non magnum) 2001-2004 are now STF!! ;-)

For those not following the goings on at SCCA....I've been irritated the last couple seasons with my heavy 2600LB car (we'll leave my fat ass out of it;-) classed with 1900LB civics, so i wrote a letter to the SCCA SEB to reclass to the new STF and it actually worked ;-) Don't know why the R/T didn't make it to STF, its not like its any lighter. Someone else can write that one.

#9016 Per the STAC, clarify the STC listings for Neon to read:
Neon (1995-2000) (all)
Neon (2001-2004) (ACR & R/T)
Also add to STF:
SCCA Fastrack News December 2012 Page 18
2001-2004 Neon (NOC)
Note: this puts the slower models of the 2nd generation Neon in STF. While the generation split is at year 2000, the ACR transmission was available in some lesser trims initially in 2000.

If you believe Hollis's analysis from this summers GRM I used the table for a benchmark and added 2gn + my SXT in R/T trim. Its still an uphill battle on paper but say a 3.55 no option SE ? + header/cat, tune, and decent~ish suspension and actually prep the car to loose some legal weight? somewhere near ~2400lbs. yeah that might actually work with a decent driver. My benchmark was the #2 STF Mini at nationals in my local club. i have been all over his raw times the last few times he's been out. Maybe he's having an off day and I've been driving big or there could be something to this..

WTB base neon MTX ;-)!!!!! 2013 is going to be awholehellaofalotta fun.

Nice work.

Is it possible that they could just 'grandfather' in the R/T's as well ?
After all, it is the same damn car  .... Like you said.

It's the 3.94 trans that they are outlawing. Which is very helpful coming out of the slow corners that from the vids I've seen dont exist at the national tours. And power for a r/t is only better above 5000 rpm. So yeah I'd say a lighter & lightened 2gn even with a 355 will be competitive especially if we can improve the power band within the rules.

Write your letter about the r/t. I'd keep tour point narrow and concentrate on weight vs the acr and power band vs the regular motor.

Thanks, Ben. :) I don't have an R/T, but I know a guy who auto-crosses regularly - This is the kind of stuff that effects him and the classes he has to run in.

Stoopid question, if I may ask..... .... Is the rule change 'nation-wide'? Or just the local chapter ?

1) everyone should autocross.
2) The way i understand it, because it was published as a Tech Bulletin it is effective immediately.

Stuff in fast track is national policy and effective immediately unless stated otherwise

You want to find an early build 2000 se with a 3.94

those are specifically not allowed in STF. hence 2001-2004 dont ask me what they have against the 2005's .
2001-2004 Neon (NOC)
