transfer gears swap
I been looking to find a way to lower the gear ratio in my 3 speed atx and came across swapping swapping the transfer gears found most info on it on turbo dodge forum wondering if any one has tried it and what cars would have the lower gear ratio to do it. Found a lot of info on it but most of them on turbo dodge go the opposite rout to get better hwy gas milage.

You will want to watch what years you pull the transfer gears from. In 1995 they made this change:

Here's a start:
Part of the problem is the neon forums are generally not ATX friendly. So there isn't a lot of info posted, as the bulk want to go MTX.
Which is fairly valid, as there is a significant difference in power to the wheels. Boost does help level the playing field between the two, but the ATX's need some beefing to be as reliable as the MTX's once the power levels climb.
Common sense helps with either.... As all of them will fail with enough torque, and stupid pedal application.
They may swap out as a set, as long as the centers are the same. You should probably only replace them as a set anyways...A lower helix angle in the transfer gear set reduced noise. An increase in the helix angle from 27.5 degrees to 32 degrees made the gears quieter by placing more teeth in simultaneous contact
