if your going to do a WalMArt compare, make sure you add the NAPA TrueViews into your project.....like I said earlier, they were exactly like the Silverstar but cheaper!!!

I had the Cool-Blues in my '03 Dakota and hated them.

I've had the SilverStars in my '04 R/T (headlamp and parking lamp bulbs) for over 6months and love them.

Jason, have you found a SilverStar bulb for the front foglamps on the '03+ R/Ts?

LOL how!? u use the gun... and .. SCAN the barcode!!! geez. musta been a newbie

anyways I have em. Just bought new ones tonight because the passenger side low beam burnt out.. and it's been at least a year... I think the vibrations/bumps from that side of the road did it in, honestly. BTW: Autozone has them in a 2-pack now, and you get a $5 mail-in rebate. I don't know what the price is for you guys because I got my discount and it was like $31 after tax I think.

I just got a pair of Silverstars at PepBoys for about $20 ($10 off coupon, $10 mail-in). Seem noticably brighter than the stockers, even in the rain, but I'm no expert. They don't have the irritating dull blue ricer look that cheaper bulbs give off.

I'm hoping I didn't un-adjust my pass. side light by unscrewing the whole thing to replace that bulb. My friend insisted it as easier than pulling the intake tube out.

Liked em in my SRT-4 when I had it. Haven't bought them for the 02 Yet. Aside from the silverstars are there any comparable bulbs out there? I was looking for the GE nighthawks but can't find them anywhere.

lol. shit i would've done the exact same thing. it's not my mistake you rung up the wrong items lol. nice way to save a few bucks.

i'd prefer the HIDs but i currently don't have the dough to get them lol. right now i am currently using the silverstars as well. they are awesome compared to the stock oem bulbs. they are much brighter and whiter than stock.

lol. i still have the stock fog light bulbs in my nSRT. does anyone know if they have any silverstars for my fogs? (preferably the same brightness as the silverstars for my headlights. if so, approx how much would they be?)

thanks

my stock bulbs seemed really dim so i got some Osram Nightbreakers (made by Siemens).

Better than stock but no great improvement of visible light, just makes everyone coming towards you blind.

Used to have some Philips X-Treme in my old Rover 400 and they were pretty good. The Silverstars will be next on trial ...

This is the best pic I could get, but the left headlight has the Napa TrueView while the right headlight is the factory yellow looking 9007...

I'm assuming you mean left/right as looking at the pic. I was thinking as in driver's seat terms. Thinking to myself how is that better? :tardbang:

I have the Silverstar Ultra's in my Sportage and they are very nice. I'm picking a set up for the neon real soon. I live in the woods where there are tons of deer and no lights along the roadway. I have people flashing me all the time because the lights are bright white and looks like I have my highbeams on but I only have lows on. They quickly turn theirs off and shield there faces when I hit them with the highbeams. Lol. The highbeams with these look great super bright for non-HID. I will get pics up when I get them for the neon and put them in. Maybe next week.

I used to have a set for my cavalier that were 100w output and they were very blue and sucked in real dark areas. I forget the company but they said they were "off-road use only".<----yeah whatever lol. But they sucked and I personally don't really like the blue lights anymore. White is right. Lol.

I used to use Silverstar before switch to HID, they came out great compare to the stock "long life" ones. Color appear whiter than the stock yellow, and very good for using in the dark place. The only problem I hear is the life, pretty much like no more than one year.

wow this thread is 6 years old almost...

I swapped out my bulbs for these, what an improvement. They are definitely nothing near HID or that crisp white light you get from them, but these bulbs definitely increased visibility for me when night driving.

I would recommend these to anyone as well.

When you first get them they are awesome. However save an old regular bulb and swap it back in next to the silver star in about four months and see if you can still tell a difference. After that exact experience twice I no longer will pay for the fancy bulbs. Sorry.

I always seemes to loose one about 4-6 months in and by then the 1+ year old bulb was exactly the same as the silverstar and thus no more for me.

Very good point. How the filament ages, is an important consideration.

I don't think too many manufactures have a 1 year side by side comparison between oem/standard, and their product. I might recall one that did something similar, but not which one, or if it is just a false memory. :tardbang:

Sylvania makes the OEM bulbs for these, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Silverstars are similar to stock. I run Silverstar Ultras, which are ridiculous compared to stock, and I love them. Had them for about 3 years now, and they're still almost as bright and white as they were new. I'll be rebuying them when these die too.

^I believe I have the Silverstar Ultras as well. Had them since winter '08 and they're going strong. I don't think I can see as well in the rain with them, but whatever. Soon they'll go in the '00 and the '03 will have retros.

I'm hesitant on using silverstars again after my last experience. At least the Ultras. I had regular silverstars in a Ford Ranger and Jeep Liberty for years with no problems. A couple years ago I had an '06 Honda Civic, and put the Ultras in that. I loved the brightness and clarity of the light, but I went through two sets in a year. I'm not talking 2 2 bulb sets, I'm talking 2 4 bulb sets because it had seperate bulbs for low and high beams. Gradually one by one they would go out. Eventually I put stock equivalents back in and never looked back. I've been thinking about putting them in the Neon when I replace the housings, but it definately won't be the Ultras.

Excuse me for resurrecting a very old thread. Reading this makes me want Sylvania Silverstars.

However I can't find anything to explain "filament aging". I was under the impression that halogen bulbs
were like incandescent bulbs in your house ... 100% output until they burn out. Does replacing older stock
9007 bulbs with newer bulbs improve the output ?
