Name: Mike Johnson
Location: Pioneer Ohio (near Toledo)
Contact info: pm me here that'll get you my phone number.
Feedback: here and eBay hearseluver004
Alright I had this written out once but something happened and it all got deleted so id like to trade for something else. I love the car and don't really have to sell it but I'm bored with it. So Make me an offer on something cool or something not so cool and some cash.
Pros:
new head
new gaskets
Timing
And water pump all at around 147k
Cons:
Well I fixed all of the mechanical stuff, there is some damage still from hitting a deer but I haven't had time to straighten out the dents yet. The paint isn't great but what can you expect
Runs great is my current daily, really only want to trade.
Ill get more pictures for anyone wanting them.
Rocker "hole"
fender rust
Edit. Still for sale but some new paint and roof rack.

randomly "overheats" needle pegs, light on, dings and right back down to normal, completely intermittent and I can't make it happen in the garage under controlled conditions
Mike, or buyer...
Replace the temp sender with a Mopar unit. A new one from AutoZone will do the exact same thing. A NAPA one will fix the cluster but the fans will come on at 160º and not shut off.
It won't hurt to check for a chaffed wire from the cluster to the sender, but my bet is the sender.

Thanks Bill, I have a Borg Warner (lifetime warranty) unit sitting in the glove box I just haven't found time to install it yet. I was waiting for it to occur a few more times just to nail it down, but hasn't happened in roughly 3 weeks.

Changed that, thermostat, and radiator first thing, the radiator I did because I happened to have a brand new one and the old one was missing a good 8 inch square of fins.INVUJerry wrote:Could also be the rad cap, same thig happened to my NYG

If you are looking for consistency, put the AZ unit in there. The chiming will drive you insane. About every 10 to 15 minutes.
I actually installed a temp gauge in the heater tube to verify it wasn't actually getting that hot. It would never boil, or anything that correlated with the cluster reading. Drove it 4 hours from Flint to Wadsworth that way. It would have died well before we made it, if the problem was real.

Bumping this, except now adding some deer damage tthe pass. door and rear quarter. New tires will be put on the front Monday, and the "overheating" has been seemingly fixed by a new sender, and the turn signal is working thanks to a new socket. More pics tomorrow to show the damage.

I installed min in the upper Rad hose. It helps with diagnosing theermostat issues. If the thermostat is fine the temp gauge will show temp after engine warm up, if the thermostat is stuck closed I will get no reading, if the thermostat is stuck open I will get readings right away.occasional demons wrote:If you are looking for consistency, put the AZ unit in there. I ended up using the 1/8 npt port on the bottom of the thermostat housing, Couldn't find the fittings I had and didn't want to buy a housing to go into the hose at the time. I am going to buy one now though since the sender I got is super short and only barely in the water flow.
