Hey guys ! New Chick with a neon sxt here!

Post by SKULLZ419 » Sat Nov 22, 2014 5:00 pm

I have a 05 dodge neon sxt and have had her for a little over a year now. I would like to start making some mods on her and I'm having trouble figuring out where to start. Also I've started looking for a new muffler but I need some recommendations for which brand is better than the other and what size in diameter.

I would really appreciate the help and any input or recommendations would be much appreciated also! Thanks!:)

If you want to 'upgrade' to a dual-outlet muffler, Magnaflow is a good choice.
(ref. Magnaflow muffler part numbers: 12265 or 12266.
12265 is 2.5 inlet + 2.5 outlet; 12266 is 2.5 inlet and 2.25 outlet.

It's listed as a 'Camaro/Firebird' muffler; but it seems a lot of Neon folks have adapted this muffler. You'll probably have to have an exhaust shop finish the installation for you.

How is the rest of the exhaust piping on the car ??
If it is in good shape - Then you can buy just the muffler, and be done with it.

You can also try the factory R/T muffler, that was available on Neons - But those are discontinued / or expensive / or costly to ship.
They do pop up for sale every now and then on this board - Used.

You could also get very lucky like I did, and find a good used R/T [muffler] on a junkyard car.

It is probably easiest to just buy one the Magnaflow mufflers listed above, and be done with it.

I've heard of magnaflow before so I'll probably check that one out first.
Since the exhaust piping is in good shape I'll probably just buy the muffler. Thanks for the help on getting me on the right track . If you think of any other mods let me know.
