Installing Indiglo Gauges -- need help
I just got my reverse indiglo gauge face off of ebay yesterday and I'm currently trying to install it right now. Here is where I am right now and I'm not sure how to carefully remove the stock face without messing with the needles?
The included instructions are very generic so I was curious if anyone has already done this and any advice you can give.
Thanks

you can remove the "big" needles w/o any car. To reinstall them just turn ignition on and the needles will go in "ZERO" position. Okay, it's tricky to reinstall them (to find the freakin right position that it stays on ZERO) but it works...
Just plug the needle in, ignition off and on again and look where the needles stays now.
But easier is to find a way not to remove them
Oh: And try to use doublesided tape that you first stick on the gauge surface (not on the overlays!).
Reason: When the overlay comes of (and it will!!) - it will block the needles and in worst case this will destroy your gauge.

i haven't done it in a neon but in another car i used to have i installed them. it took some time, thought and a slow hand but it was possible to slide the overlays over the needle and into place. i would suggest going that route, and even a few attempts, before removing the needles. why cause more work if you don't have to?

I agree, it might take a little more time but you shouldn't have to remove the needles at all. The ones I had for my 97 Eclipse slid right over the needles and even had a small screw that kept them from impeding the needles.nineball wrote:i haven't done it in a neon but in another car i used to have i installed them. it took some time, thought and a slow hand but it was possible to slide the overlays over the needle and into place. i would suggest going that route, and even a few attempts, before removing the needles. why cause more work if you don't have to?

I put some overlays on my 03 sentra. Man, it took some time and luck to get them on without taking out the needles. Thing is, I was trying to take off the needles but didnt know how to. I ended up messing up my rpm needle. It stays stuck on 3 grand when the car is off and once in a while it works while I'm driving. I'm just glad I didnt mess up my speedo. For my neon I think I'll just take it to a shop next time.

Yeah, It can be done. Patience and a steady hand is all thats needed. Dont the freaking needles pop off, tho? It seems purrty dumb for the manufacturer to make them to where they dont pop off. I mean, dont they know that we are gonna get bored with oem look and eventually upgrade with overlays??
