Leak: Water in trunk

Post by Dennis Blewett » Fri Jul 25, 2014 2:02 am

I've read that supposedly the issue could be a taillight. I'll look into it. As of a couple of hours ago, I found a bunch of water where the spare would be in the trunk. The bottom of the carpet was wet. I had to take a large shop vacuum to it all and soak up the water.

I don't know how long the water has been there, but I'm assuming no more than three weeks. Is it still possible to save the carpet that was on the bottom?

If I can't save it, any suggestions for a replacement? I saw a video on YouTube with someone spraying the trunk with Truck Bed Liner spray. That didn't seem like such a bad idea. I have some carpet installation experience, but I think a can of spray would be super easy. Also, I don't feel like installing a nice looking rug in the trunk a beat-up car.

Just remove the "carpet" and let it dry in the sun for a few days. Maybe clean it with soapy water first. The sunlight will also help kill any odor causing bacteria that may have been enjoying your swimming pool.
