2012 Carlisle Northeast Caravan Thread

I know this is way early, but it was suggested to start a thread. I'm guessing it will be a Thursday morning/early afternoon trip like usual.

Who's in?

By the way, just to get this information out there early for people coming from New England that won't be able to caravan down with us, do NOT take I-95 through NY! Take I-287 over the Tappan Zee Bridge. Consider yourself warned.

So ... I am wondering what is the route you guys actually take ??where do you meet up ... and who do you meet along the way ??

Since there's only been a few of us going from New England in year's past, we've met in East Providence. People from VT and NY met us somewhere on I-287. Last year, glasswars met up with us in NJ, and then we were on our way to the Harrisburg West.

From New England, the route is:

I-95 until just over the NY border
I-287 over the Tappan Zee Bridge into NJ
I-78 through NJ into PA
I-81
I-83

The hotel is right off of I-83. The back parking lot of the hotel where we party actually overlooks I-83, so you'll see a row of Neons up on a hill when you're approaching it from the north.

If you look up directions to the hotel, it will take you I-95 through NY on the Cross Bronx Expressway. If you like ridiculous tolls, miserable traffic, and roads where 40MPH will probably earn you a bent wheel, then be my guest.

In thinking more along the lines of I-84 to I-81 to I-83 ... at least from my area that makes a little more sense to me ...

I-87 SOUTH
I-287 SOUTH
then 78,81,83

So i've been wanting to go to this show for a long time nowand never have, this will be the first year i will be going!
I saw the thread on the Srtforums last night and have already taken the days off from work today

I look forward to meeting alot of new people and seeing alot of badass cars!
I plan on booking the hotel and paying the registration fee when i get paid.

I have to make my reservations this week ... but I think I may actually go down Wednesday afternoon.

I am bringing my daughters with me ... and my parents decided they want to come along and take the kids to Hershey Park and a few other places. So we may go Wed. and on Thursday all go to Indian Caves or something like that ... then they will have the kids for most of the weekend hitting other places ... and I will have the time to sit at the show and not hear "I'm bored can we leave" every 20 minutes ... lol.

But thats still to be determined at this time .... should know more in a couple days.

Ok so I am Registered and got my rooms. I will be heading down Wednesday afternoon. Gonna spend Thursday at one of the local tourist traps with the kids and my parents. Then I have the weekend for the show.

Now to pick and choose what I am ordering to put on the car before I go ...

dam how did I miss this..... Lol... I will l delete my previous thread.. time off is taken hotel booked and registered.. car is in about a million pieces between paint and trans work but I'm hoping for no surprises this year...I've come prepared...

My buddy Tyler is coming down with us... Eblueskittle...sold his srt but he has a dodge RAM pickup he's done some work too...

Can't wait to see everyone again....

What are you doing to your trans now? Did the speedometer gear fall off again?

As far as surprises, there's at least one every year. It sucks, but it happens. Luckily, they happen in the middle of the best-equipped group to deal with it.

Count my brother in: daveyram54. He barely ever comes on here, but he is officially part of the family.

Speaking of surprises, I may show up in a car that hasn't been down there since 2007.

Yea took it upon myself to take the trans apart myself... Found the speedo gear was mounted upside down...both times I sent it to the shop to be done...let's say that's no longer an issue... I have a grinding/ scraping noise that I'm investigating right now... Think its a synchronous or bearing

Slaw you want to install that remote start while I'm thete let me know....

Can't wait...been waiting all year for this.

Same as last year works for me. That's pretty much the same time I've been leaving every year.

EDIT: I have to make it to Colt State Park this year. It's only 35 minutes away from me, plus there are a few locals that don't go to Carlisle that I haven't met yet.
