Well I Got into an accident
yup, and im not sure what to do with the car...I need help from you guys...Im sorry for the crappy cell pics, will take more damage pics with the digi cam... Well this is what happened.
I dropped my buddy off at his friends house and was heading down this two lane road. well I was going about 35ish when this germen shepherd ran out into the road and just sat there...well my first reaction was to swerve. as I did I trailed along the side of a ditch trying not to go in it, I then sideswiped a telephone pole and then hit a fire heidrent, it spun me around 180.
well im not sure if the damage is too severe to fix the car or to just scrap it. I love the car to death and in the meantime have bought a 1991 Cavalier as a replacement. (nowhere near as good as my neon) The damage done that I know of so far is that the power steering reservoir broke in half and the belt snapped, two pulleys are damaged. Also the back wheels are leaning at an angle Look at the pic of the rear to see what I mean. The car still starts and can be driven, (not going to) it seems to be running fine but the pulleys being messed up is what caused the belt to snap off. here are the pics I have so far.

That sucks man, glad you are ok which is the most important thing
just from the pictures, i would think that the cost of repairing is going to outway the value of the car in your case. i would think it is time to get you a newer neon...... !!!!
frame damage both in the front and rear are going to cost you if you want it to be fixed 'correctly'......then if you decide to sell it down the road, the value of the car will be near to nothing since it has been hit, and the money you invested in fixing will not even be part of the math......
good luck,

Very very sorry to hear about your wreck man...all this because you did a good thing by avoiding a stupid dog that had no business being in the middle of the road in the first place...
Wyked: Please dont read any further if you dont want to be more upset... I'm sorry to post this info
both doors are non repairable, those run $504 for the front and $637 for the rear, new unpainted from dodge (MSRP), this doesn't include anything inside the doors that might be damaged, like the window tracks, nor does it include the outside handle, or the molding strips
he would also need a new rear quarter panel, which runs $862 new unpainted...
dont forget a hood, and possibly a bumper as well...
so lets look at just parts costs, assuming retail price for the major parts listed so far
$504 Front door
$637 Rear door
$862 Quarter panel
$370 Hood
$400ish Bumper Cover
-------------------------
$2773 PARTS TOTAL
Noting the lean of the back tires, there's likely going to also be suspension damage...
assume going rate of $45/hr for paint, at least 10 hours, thats another $450 just for paint, not including labor for R&I and R&R parts
I may be able to help you a little bit, i'll shoot you a PM about that though... I have a part or two that might be of some use to you to save you money.
you dont know much about body repair apparently...flhmfd wrote:doesn't look worth more than a couple grand.

I feel for you dude. I was just involved in a accident this morning. Major suspension damage...
I too swerved to avoid hitting a car. Glad I swerved, I would be in the hospital majorly hurt if I hit the other car.
Hopefully everything works out the way you want it too.
As everyone else is saying, as long as you are okay, nothing else really matters. Cars can be rebuilt and repainted...

Your ok, that's what matters, but I have to agree that the car prolly isn't salvageable. you front frame rail is against the pulleys and unless it's the pics the whole car looks bent. Your best bet is to start fresh.
I was lucky on mine in that there was no frame damage. But they still totalled it. Basically I'll never sell it for any real $. But fixing it was cheaper than a monthly payment, and driving my Jeep was killing me. I only hope you had full coverage. If not strip the good stuff off and Ebay it. Or save the good parts for spares for the next Neon. But that only works if you have decent storage.

Oh man, that sucks. But look at it this way, it was time for a new one anyway, and at least no one was hurt (not even that damn dog!)
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of the car. Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you're going when you hit the wall, and torque is how far you drag the wall with you.

Its good that you are ok. Aye, those damn German shepards have death wishes, i was on a 60 stretch when i see one in my lane running towards me with ears back and all, I actually started to step on the brakes while swerving to the other side of the road, i was awake for the rest of the trip. Speaking of which I killed a cat last night, no time to react, just bump.

I would have hit the dog. Nitehawk you should know better. Its a Neon, they all get used or aftermarket parts.
A used quarter will run about $4-500.
Front door skin and repair the shell ?150
Used rear door250-300
Its really not that bad if you shop around to get prices but honestly the car is totalled. I had a 01 in my shop last week that was a theft. Damaged handle and lock cylinder busted column and fine scratches down one side and it totaled.
