The willwoods are nice, but i'm looking for the large caliper look. 6 -puck to stand out. Yea i know that its pricey but I think it will flow with the rest of the car.

Well, here is an update for you all. I had a weekend in between my classes, so I was able to finally install my injectors (Stage 1), extend my wires so they run under my IMF. Now I'm running a bit richer at 30 lbs on the fuel regulator. I'm happy now.

I gave her a bath, and going to work on cleaning up the engine bay for the Modern meet in a few weeks.

Back from the Dead....

Post by NeonOn19s » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:47 pm

I have awaken from the dead....

School is complete and now I can start on a few things this summer when its 2,000,000 degrees out......

Back in April I was pulling the car into the garage and snapped off my passenger side mirror.... :banghead: Needless to say I was finishing up my Masters, so the Car was put to the side and I haven't touched it since. Its been sitting on a Battery tender since April.

The damage wasn't too bad with my windows were down so the mirror snapped and landing inside the car, so no paint damage (Thank God)

I decided to order OEM mirrors again, this way I have power mirrors and folding for when I need to park in the garage. So this weekend I will be working on the car, and give it a nice bath finally.

I have a list of items I want to complete this summer and I hope I can get them completed.

1. Relocate battery to spare tire well
2. Re-do my sub box with a fiberglass setup
3. Locate some R/T panels or SRT doors for the front to remove the existing look
4. Look into the air setup from DotLow Customs here in Houston.
4. Fix any recent damage from the past two years.

So I have been driving the "black hole" for the last couple of day and started to notice a slight grind from my drivers side rotor. I notice a bit of wear and just figured some thing got caught with the pad and would wear off.. Well not my issue. With my dad in the area he checked it out last night and the hub bearing is shot on the drivers side... This was offsetting the caliper and pad onto the rotor which what placing a bad groove into the disk.

I will get some pics tonight when I get back to the house and see what my dad has messed with while I was at work today.

Well.. I realized that I didn't update what was the issue from the grinding. My bearing set in the hubs were bad, and needed new ones. The down side is the alignment is off again :banghead:

I also haven't been able to pass inspection so the car has been sitting for over a year. I started to work on the car today and found the return bulkhead gasket has a cut and leaking fuel. I now have parts on order from jeggs, but it looks like a week longer until parts show up....

I'm going to install the wideband I bought in July so I can finally measure correctly now. So I still have a few issues to line out. I hope to get the neon road worthy this fall.

Not sure how to post pics from a tablet....so pics later when I boot up the computer.

Well here are some of the images from this weekends work.

Some Texas AC....

Image

Removal of the Gas Tank and Charcoal Canister.

Image

This was not fun to remove again... it always seems that I have a full tank when I need to remove it....

Image

:cussing: :banghead:

When I took out the fuel pump I noticed that the return line fitting was leaking. I dug further and the gasket was damaged. So it was easier to order a new bulkhead and some stat-0-seal for the -8AN. I should have these parts later this week or weekend....

I removed the old narrowband and getting to install the new wideband. New vs. Old.

Image

And the Wideband installed..
Image

And the O2 senor with the gauge. I decided to install it right after the turbo and before the Cat. I had an dummy O2 there when I did the install.

Image

I figured that I would look over the valve cover and why I have an oil leaks on Cyl. 1 and 2. I re-did the gaskets around the sparkpulgs, and I hope I fixed it.... Now noticed oil in Cyl 1 and 2 spark plug tube. I need to replace the plugs since they are more than a few years old, but my main concern is removing the plugs and the oil draining into the block on the piston. I don't want to damage anything....

Image
Image

I might need some directions on the spark plugs. Any help please?

Well the remaining of my parts came in this week. So I hope to mess with it this weekend and possibly get the tank hanging again. I'm still going to look over all the hoses in the EVAP system and see if I can find any cracks.... Well I hope I don't find any. Not sure what it will cost for replacements.

Well this thread is being raised from the grave.... I know I haven't been on in a long time... I know .... I know... :banghead:

Fuel tank is back in the car and no leaks - Thank God!!!

Still can't get the car to pass inspection... I have finally been able to spend some time on the car these past few weeks. I'm still getting the P0172 code - so I replaced the Bank 1 O2 sensor figuring it was a start. Still getting the code, looking at either replacing the MAP sensor since its still the original from 2001.

Might look at lowering my RRFPR pressure and possibly swapping out my S1 to stocks again. If all else fails.. look at a piggy back system and start to learn tuning 101...

Let me know if anyone else has ideas.

Not that I am an expert or anything but did you check the engine harness? Mine was pretty melted and I found areas were it rubbed through the insulation. It may be worth a shot to look into the wiring before you replace sensors.

Thanks Thomas. I will look into that. I think most of my issues is from my Fuel Pressure being too high. I have to still adjust some more.
