Tell me about it. :banghead: Although I suppose it's good in a way...if it wouldn't have broken, I'd have sold the intake setup a long time ago, and wouldn't have it right now, when it's coming in handy.

I made a great discovery today, and I was pleased. I took the plastic case off the bad MTV from my car and discovered that the wiring "harness" is contained in the base of the plastic case, and has a slick little multi-pin connection when pressed into place over the motor. So I took the case off the good MTV from my old intake setup and, wa-la....I mixed and matched motors with cases. Good motor with good case = one functional MTV.

I'm still going to try and clean the bad MTV motor and get it functional, as well as try to fix the broken wire on the bad case...but I'm not too optimistic about either prospect. The bad motor looks great cosmetically....there is nothing obviously wrong, and I can't take it apart any farther to investigate. So who knows there. And the case, well, the case is going to be next to impossible to fix. My best chance is to very carefully dremel the plastic away from the wires, and solder a new wire onto the tiny little stub that remains. But no pressure, because I have 2 MTV's....to go with my 2 manifolds.

Detailed MTV pictures coming soon.

Today my dad helped me install the awesome Thermal R&D rear section. With some tweaking I'll be able to get the tips high, tight and centered in the cutout's. This muffler is beautiful. Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

Stainless band clamp...so much nicer than u-bolt clamps.

And I hid my throttle cables behind the intake mani. Got everything hooked up besides the battery, and I'm waiting on my VC.

$350. Well, actually the "selling" price was only $250. But it was coming from Canada (in both senses of the word) and ended up costing a little over $100 in shipping and fee's. Stupid maple leaf country.

If they were still available, I wouldn't have paid that much for it. But they're not...so you do what you gotta do.

Yeah, i've been looking at gti's and srt's. Hoping i can find one for cheap. But i doubt i will be able to afford one without a small loan. So i'm in a bit of a pickle.

The snowflakes were sold last summer in a garage sale to make more room :banghead: Funny how they didn't tell me..

That's cool, I didn't have real use for them anyway. Tell your folks they owe you the money they got out of those wheels...lol.

If you're looking at GTI's, stay away from the 1.8T's...sludge monsters. I'd get a cheap SRT before I'd get a cheap GTI. I'd buy an expensive GTI over an expensive SRT-4 though.

Oh i am haha.

Yeah i don't know what i'll end up with but when i get something i'll post it up. And i'll take that 1.8T info into consideration. But i was looking for at the vr6 model gti's. R32's are too damn expensive

Sorry for spamming your thread.

:(

My valve cover got neglected, so it's not even shipped yet. Maybe it got shipped today, I hope so. But either way, I'll still be waiting a while to fire the car up. I almost considered putting a spare VC on, but it's just a little too much work to dig it out of storage, just so I can drive the car 3-4 days sooner.

I did install a sweet Momo shift knob (the dark chrome King model). I shorted the shift lever about .75" and with the Boogers and JM bushings, it feels awesome. And my shifties fit over the knob perfectly, I got "Azul" and "Grim". The shifties also sit very nicely in the front of the arm rest cubby area, even though I think that little area is for a cell phone or something. I never could figure out what it was designed for. But it works great for shifties. :)

It's ok. Stuff happens. It's not my only car, so it's really just a patience thing, not a necessity thing.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to hearing it. Hopefully it won't sound SO good that I can't keep my foot out of it. This car is supposed to be my gas saver. lol

Houston, we have liftoff! I put on a spare valve cover, filled her up with oil, flushed the coolant, changed the thermostat and then filled her up with new coolant last night late. I couldn't wait to take it out, so I went for a midnight spin. Everything is awesome. Car drives straight, no shaking or pulling (must have been the old tires), the exhaust sounds great, and the secondaries on the intake manifold definitely work now!

Now I just need to wash/polish/wax the exterior, and powerwash the engine bay. My powdercoated valve cover should arrive sometime soon, and once that's on, I think the car will be "done" for a while.

Pictures after I wash it!

Well, so far I'm 2 for 3. I have a car that the original owner regrets selling, an exhaust on the car that the original owner regrets selling, but I don't think z3roneo regrets selling me the IceMan intake.

Everything else was purchased from a retailer. Hopefully they don't regret selling stuff......

I found out that I some how cracked my downpipe, so now I have a stupid huge exhaust leak thats driving me absolutely crazy!

It sounded ok before with no muffler, now it sound like I have an external wastegate dumping all the time lol.

Question about the Thermal exhaust: I noticed today that under heavy throttle, but low(er) RPM....the exhaust gets real crunchy sounding. If you wait to push into it until higher RPM, it doesn't happen near as obviously. But low rpm (under 3500) and heavy throttle doesn't sound very good. It loses all it's "smoothness". I wish I knew exactly what % of throttle it does it at, because it's almost like an on/off switch with the sound.

Anyone else with a Thermal R/D experience this?

Define crunchy? >.>

I don't notice anything odd under 3500...
Mine's low...deep and mellow under 3500.

Was yours brand new?
I think they need 5000 miles to break 'em in.
And mine always sounds crappy(crunchy maybe?) when the engine is cold. Only starts sounding nice after a bit of driving.

can I ask though what do you think of the bulb shield on these fog lights? I'm about to replace my old set for a new pair and the bulb shield I think reduces the light output?? my old MOPAR ones had no bulb shield and it was nice and bright ..the new ones kinda SUCK light output is reduced...

Also whats the best way of replacing the fog lights? through the head light?
