i think the eibach springs need to go. anyone have an alternative choice of springs for a similar drop? i'd like to match where the front is, so about a 1.5" drop

i love my on 1gn springs i just cut a coil from the front to level the tire gap front to back and it rides like stock and if you find acr or rt springs for a 1gn it increases the spring rate and should still be comfortable and handle a little better

thanks for the tip. im tired of mushy rear springs that always bottom out. i already have ACR sway bars, but i can just tell that the rear springs are just too soft. i also have polyurethane rear control arm bushings to install, and if i re-do springs, i'll be replacing the strut mounts again.

would anyone happen to know the part number for the ACR springs? or even know anyone who has a VIN for a 1GN ACR? i can look up the part number, but currently it lists 5 different rear springs, with no differentiation between them.

the r/t and the acr had the same spring rates. heres an r/t vin for you

as for a lowering spring that offers a 1.5" drop, look into meagans or ksport. Ksports are on my car in sig

BTW nice clean build, are you a mechanic? not every day you see a woman doing her own work

A BETTER OPTION IF YOU CAN FIND THEM ARE THE 1ST GEN MOPAR HIGH RATES OR THE EXTRA HIGH RATES, THEY HAVE HIGHER SPRING RATES THAN THE ACR/RT

well, this weekend was spent on the charger, getting it ready for OBD test this year, as well as race season. a new timing set (it eats one each year because of the HUGE cam) and a new 17% overdrive ATI Super Damper. this week the beefed up transmission goes in too.

My mom's 2001 PT cruiser looks like it snapped a timing belt, so in preparation for the worst, i picked up a replacement cylinder head. I'm hoping there's no damage to hers, as i MIGHT be able to use that for my own build in the neon at some point. a 2.0 DOHC might be fun, but it might need boost...

The PT head should be fine, as those are non interference, unless there was valve to valve contact.

Well, unless it is a 2.0 PT, but I think those were only sold overseas.

well, i have the block, crank, and cylinder head already for the new engine.
Image

the head will get the usual attention, cleaning, slight decking, 3 angle valve job and cleaning the exhaust ports a tad.

on the shopping list still are:

SRT4 intake manifold
PT exhaust manifold
2.0 DOHC cams
2.0 DOHC timing covers
Eagle H beam rods
custom pistons for my target compression ratio

that will get me to my first stage of the build, while i acquire parts for the boost half of the build later.

wow, missed this for a while. havent done that much as ive been pretty busy with life.

I have picked up an R/T header to put on the stock SOHC motor, which has an o2 port already, so it'll go on soon. great since im pretty sure my stock manifold has a crack right now.

Image

also replaced my front cradle with one from an 05 in the scrap yard.
Image
ive also plasti-dipped my snowflakes white for winter. undecided on if i like it.

Howdy stranger!

The snowflakes don't look horrible. Kind of refreshing from the black wheel trend. (I was never a fan anyways.)

You can pound the studs out of your cast manifold and reuse them in the Magnum header. That's what I did. They should still be available new from the dealer too. (Hopefully)

lol, i work for the dealer. my current manifold has bolts in it from when studs broke off while replacing my cat last year.

i'll likely just tack weld a few bolts in place.

the snowflakes will probably end up being dedicated winter wheels anyway, so who knows what i'll do. i'd like to find some nice 16's to use for summer wheels. somewhere i have pics of the shelby pumper wheels off my dad's neon, on my car. looked pretty neat.

Always cool to see another SX2.0 on the boards.

Is that your old cradle in the pic? I had noticed a JY in Quebec selling used K-frames on eBay which got me to thinking about listing mine when the new one is installed.

Yes thats my old cradle. New one was quite rust free, with the only issue being mismatched sway bar bushing bolts. Easy fix
