I should have the megasquirt wired in along with a way to stop the PCM from pulling fuel while in boost later this week or possibly this weekend.

I have a feeling this el cheapo low mileage bottom end I picked up isn't really low mileage. She makes quite a bit of racket under load even when warm.

The original motor that just came out was in good shape so I might stick a dohc head on that one in case this current one doesn't do so well. maybe I'll crank the boost and see how much it can take before it pops.

Wasn't the engine from Brandon's car?

Finally got around to finishing the fuel system.

I'm running an MS2 controlling the extra set of injectors.
It's wired in using only 7 wires, power, ground, crank signal, o2 signal, relay control and 2 injector channels, no other sensors are wired in.

The LC-1 was modified to output an 02 signal similar to the stock NGC signal (2-3volts). However, the switch point is at 12.5:1 AFR. The megasquirt then powers a relay that feeds the PCM with the modified signal instead of stock when the engine enters boost.

Aside from the extra fuel coming from the extra injectors, the PCM then adjusts fuel as it wants thinking it is still aiming for stoich. There are no issues with part throttle boost and WOT afrs are near 12.5:1 AFR at all times. Fuel trims stay within +/-7%.

I'm still getting a misfire code that was there before the engine swap. I changed plugs, wires and used another coil. I never feel the car actually misfire so I don't know what the deal is with that.

This is awesome! Pretty similar to my goals with $500 turbo setup to get 300whp which im close to having boost just need a few more parts and one kevin sykes to build a boosted ecu on it for everybody else to use! Perks to being test subject! Love this car though and i say get a set of magnum rods and put a block together to replace this one cause mag rods are the same material as srt so should hold your power no problem while being cheap! Then crank the boost and see what happens lol

You live so close to him. I doubt he'd be coming to Houston (where I could meet him again) anytime soon for the Magnum dyno.

The magnum rods might be similar in process to the SRT pistons, but honestly, I'd be worried about the ring lands breaking first.

I have a set of eagle rods and je pistons sitting here, just don't have the $$ for bearings, rings and machine work at the moment.

All of my disposable income will be going into my drag car. It will be street legal and emissions legal again. Forged pistons and rods, Crower stage 3 cams, ported head, Holset turbo and my custom built 3 speed trans. I'm hoping to be kicked off the track due to not having a roll cage.

Just a small update, she's still kicking after 4 months. Still has a lot of piston slap when cold. Seems very happy on 87 octane and 8 psi. Now that it's warmer, I'm filling it with 91 octane and hitting upwards of 14 psi.

Only code so far is a Cat efficiency code but that was there before the swap. Likely the downstream O2.

congrats on the success of your budget turbo build glad to hear its still going strong. and i assume that your able to run different boost pressure by swapping between tunes on your ms depending upon which fuel you use

I just raise or lower the boost with my boost controller, nothing else.

I have a suspicion that the NGC 2.0 pcm has a knock sensing system similar to that of the SRT pcm. I have not detected any knock or detonation since I first tuned it back in December.

The car has been daily driven about 400-500km per week for over 5 months now.

This is correct. 1/4 inch brake line, flared to 37 degrees and regular parts store fittings. Same result can be attained with compression fittings. Cost less than $10 to make. Significantly cheaper than braided hose.

It has been 8 months of daily driving with 0 issues. The engine still piston slaps like crazy.

I am installing water/meth injection this week and taking it to the Canadian Neon Nationals. I will see if the engine holds together at 18 psi.

I just picked up a complete 03 PT Cruiser Turbo swap with PCM, SKIM as well as the Getrag Transmission and all required goodies for $460. Contemplating sticking with stock turbo or installing one of my larger turbos. Either 20G or my 50 Trim. I have a set of Crane 16 cams as well.
