Part Number Request: subframe nut/bolt?

Post by sidepipe87 » Thu Mar 01, 2012 12:25 pm

Not sure that there will be a PN for this since it is part of the frame it seems but it's worth a shot...

I took my K-frame off my silver car to get it PC'd, and when I did one of the 4 bolts that holds it up gave me a lot of grief. The rear driver's side bolt was rusted to oblivion and wouldn't come out without a fight. Now that nut is in the frame rail and there is a little opening in the frame where you can peek in. The nut was like the vertical LCA bolt in that it is welded to a tab so that it doesn't spin... Welll, with as rusty as it was that tab eventually sliced right through the frame rail and would now just spin. Long story short, I tried vice grips to hold the tab and work the bolt out... no dice. Ended up grinding the bolt head off.

I'm curious if I can buy that nut with the tab welded on (will easily slip through the hole in the frame now...) as well as the bolt for it. I can't seem to find the hardware from the SRT or I'd use it.

I guess my other options are fish it out, drill out the bolt, thread chase it, flatten it back out and reuse it or just use a nut and try to hold it with a wrench.

Hoping this is something I can just buy from the dealer

Yes the nut is available. I will try to get you a PN a little later.

6505595AA NUT, M14X2 $9.20

6506038AA SCREW, Hex Head, Cross Member To Side Rail - No longer available from FCA.

I replaced all of them when I did the replacement crossmemeber.

Just to complete the set...

6506039AA SCREW, Hex Head, Front Control Arm Rear Pivot Att M16x2.00x130.0 MSRP $34.95 each because they are only used on Vipers now. Stainless bolt for $7 each. Less worry about it rusting in place... Better and cheaper than oem.

6504742 LCA front pivot bolt - No longer available from FCA. Some left on ebay.

Edited 8-12-2018 for current pricing and availability.

M6 x 1.00, 15 to 25 mm long should be adequate.

You are paying for the captive washer design of the screw. Even if you can find those at a hardware, you are going to pay a premium for them.

Heck most smaller hardware stores here rip you a buck or more over, for the equivalent metric screw over a standard one. (Say a 13mm size vs a 1/2" size)

Thanks for that

they charge a premium for metric? hmm its pretty much impossible for us to find imperial in Europe.

just checked my local shop: M6x1.00x30 (a2) = 18c each

Bump for 4th post edit.

More dwindling parts availability, and a cheaper better option for that pesky vertical LCA bolt.
