Part Number Request: engine noise suppressor/capacitor

Post by dadmoonbunny » Sun Jul 24, 2011 2:16 pm

P/N for noise suppressor located on back of block near CPS. Cannot find on Mopar or Dodge Site. Need stock number for cross reference to aftermarket, or aftermarket number if anyone has it.

In another thread, I believe he suspects it of being bad, as in partially shorting to ground.

He has an ASD fuse that keeps failing.

I doubt there is an aftermarket alternative, this is probably dealer only.

OC, thanks for the above info!

Okay, After A LOT of research, I have located the part and dechiphered the numbers on it. Turns out that that "little black box" contains a .47 microfarad capacitor. They are used on Dodges, Hondas, Isuzus, and LORD knows how many others around the world. Several other boards such as dodge turbo truck boards also have complaints about this thing KILLING ignition systems.
If you can see the entire exhaust system while standing upright, you're either under a lift or you've done something wrong.
