Other car OT thread.
A few months ago I picked this up:
01 ACR with SRT struts and progress springs, and it's got a blown motor (complete oil starvation). Bought a DOHC block, got a sohc head rebuilt, and got an 02 r/t cam. Would love to do a magnum head with it but the budget isn't here. Just lost the motivation for it lately.
My wife is pregnant, so I sold my pickup truck, and bought this thing:
It's a 93 plymouth voyager with a 2.5 and a 5-speed trans. It's not horribly slow as you would expect, feels just a hair slower than my 05 was. I had put a SRT rod into a 1gn shifter base and almost had it mounted in the car, but it lowered the shifter quite a bit, and the mouting holes were a little off. Later this week I'll probably egg the holes out to make it fit in there.

First tank of gas the van did was 21.4! Our ram was averaging 13, since we did mostly short trips with it.

So the van now has a sundance shifter base and an srt4 shift rod and knob. Angle is better but height is lower. Counter initiative for what I really wanted. Work continues on it tomorrow.

I have one but the positioning of the forward/back throw puts everything off when put into a 1gn or Daytona base. I'd have to cut it, shorten it and reweld it. Already talked to Maddog about getting a custom shifter made for it. He's going to extend the SRT rod 2 inches and make it a short throw. Just need to get money to do it.

I already had the SRT shifter, and I got the daytona shifter and the PT shifter from the junkyard for cheap. Wifey drove the van with the srt shifter and she likes it so far. I'll leave it for a few days to see if she stays liking it. If I can, I might have my buddy extend the rod for me utilizing the shift rod from another shifter I have laying around.

Don't know what I'm gonna do yet. The Block I got from Juan is locked up and I can't get it to spin. Picking up another beater this weekend, I'll post pics.Danteneon wrote:Crap man Hit me up if you need anything. I may have an engine if you go that route.

Got my beater for my wife, she hates the way it looks, but likes that it is a Plymouth. After the baby is here it'll become mine. 93K miles, 2.5 auto, in pretty good shape.
My son loves it:

Sold crabs to BRR's brother at the last Carlisle . Since my NYG is parked I might bring over the 7-spokes to it, but who knows, it's a beat beat beater. Maybe I'll pull a hagan and spray the wheels bright green.sidepipe87 wrote:nice! throw some daytona or caravan struts on it and Eibach springs and dump the K car on those crabs you got back! (...didn't you?)
Daytona struts will probably have to happen, it's bouncy as shit right now, but not bang bang bang like neons get. Thought about getting Daytona struts and springs for my van to lower it in the front, but it's not easy to lower the back, and it's also my pickup truck now, so I load it up with shit often enough to not want to lower it.

From what I found online, they're about 2300 lbs in a sedan, about the same weight as my 1gn. I've enjoyed it driving it 2 hours home. Needs a radio but after that it'll be fine.MyNeonSaysHi wrote:^ROFL! I love that K car! My mom had one back in the day, a 2 door! Theya re light!

That is an awesome photo. It looks so old, I'm assuming you did something with it via instagram or some thing of that nature. I think what helps is the old ford truck in the background.INVUJerry wrote:

Yeah that's a picture from instagram, just a color filter. My neighborhood is full of old cars that people keep driving. I'll get a pic of the van and the reliant together in front of my house to make it look really old lol.

And here I was looking for a '40's or 50's truck.wickedgood4684 wrote:[ I think what helps is the old ford truck in the background.
I guess it depends on your perception of old.
Edit: Of course "The Colonel" will be looking for a 1912 PU.....

well here's my other car. it's in my sig, but it's a 1993 Plymouth Duster. my dad bought it brand new in 93. he sold it to a high school kid in 2000 and got his intrepid r/t. i bought it from that kid in 2003. i got the neon in 2005. my buddy rolled his crapalier in 2006 and i sold it to him cheap. while he had it, he paid me to put a clutch in and new tires on. i then bought it back from him for the same price that i sold it to him for in 2008. it's been my winter car ever since (mostly). feel free to fap all night
mods include:
-home made cold air intake
-cat delete with bubble gum welds
-high flow/loud as fuck muffler
-a/c delete cause the compressor locked up
-lightened crank pulley cause there was no need for the extra metal
-bypassed clutch engagement switch for quicker starts in the winter
-110A alternator from a dodge spirit
-52mm throttle body off a mini van
-gay lights from high school kid removed (now that i'm also out of high school, lol)
-push button start because the ignition switch doesn't work completely (key still needs to be switched forward)
-LEDs added cause the dash lights shit out
-2x4 wheel block for warming up the car on slopes (has a new parking brake cable, but there's a 6" hole where it goes through the floor board)
-tree branch in trunk to hold up hatch
-other weight reduction in the form of holes and rust
serious things done:
-all new engine gaskets
-new gas tank/pump/sending unit/lines
-new rear shocks to prevent caddy bounce
-snow tires on 3 neon rims and 1 duster rim
shit that sucks:
-driver's seat belt doesn't lock
-passenger seat belt doesn't even retract back in
-no horn
-no idea if air bag will work
-brake hoses are swollen
-wheel bearing is loud as hell
-might die in this thing one of these winters

Lol that's pretty awesome EJ. You very well may die in that though. This car is pretty clean, well, relatively.

Lolz, has about the same mods as ours. Rust.
Passenger side seat belt same, the rocker under it is wide open, so it likely died from exposure.
Driver side belt works tho.
Vise grips to hold the hatch open > tree branch for weight redux.
I have an OT video somewhere of the lower mileage engine I dropped in...
