blown pcm?

Post by thisdieingdream1 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:16 am

Okay. So I broke the OEM key off last year, but managed to get the car started by taping the microchip to a spair key.

But,,, haha yeah there are always but, ....damn it
I ended up breaking that key off to. I had to use a knife to get the key out. But I had another spair. However, I couldn't get the chip set perfect on the spair and my car would start and turn off. But I did that so much that now when I turn the key to start the engine I get nothing at allll.

Help asap!

You might want to change the title of your thread, so you don't attract the attention of Homeland Security. :)

Have you checked the Transponder, to make sure the 'ring' around the ignition cylinder, is not broken ?

Lol

I did check nothing is broke.

I think you have a sertain amount of times trying to start your car before it goes into protect mood. After a few minutes it kicks out of it and you can start trying again. However mine seems to be stuck.

Unhook the battery and let it sit for a little bit.

Can I ask how you manage to keep breaking keys off?

your skim module is in antiscan/lockout mode. Your PCM is not bad nothing is wrong the car is acting exactly as it should. Your transponder the ring aournd your key cylinder, thinks that someone is trying to steal it. (happens when you try to start a skim equipped car with a bad/broken/what have you key)

Ive never taken a neon out of lockout mode so this is SWAG, but unhook the battery terminals and touch them together (without touching the batt. terminals) then let the car sit for 2-3 hours no less than 2 hours then reconnect the battery, and then place the transmitter/microchip as close to the key cylinder as possible (take the steering column shroud off if you have to) do not start it yet turn the key to RUN/but not start and look for the little red dot in the instrument panal. if the light goes off then you can start your car and it will be good. (if it doesn't go off don't start or you will lock it out again)

if this doesn't work hook the car up to a battery charger with the ignition in the RUN/not start position again and leave it for 2-3 hours again no less than 2 hours. and try the whole process over again (without disconnecting the battery).

if this doesn't work you may be looking at a tow bill and a trip to the dealership.

.
That is what the FSM states to do from the start.

Must be keyed on for a few hours. The battery charger keeps the battery from draining, and screwing up the PCM reset.

Do you maybe know where the keys/transponders are stored ?
Maybe the same as for the RKE the remotes are stored at the pcm, are the keys/ transponders stored at the pcm as well ?

I thought of swapping my pcm to another one and wanted to keep the original keys (sure) and the original skim-module.

And if so, does the procedure mentioned above work in this constellation, too ?

I don´t like the idea to have to swap the pcm at a dealer to let them program my keys/skim to the "new" pcm.

RKE is not stored in the PCM. they are stored in the skim. and the skim and pcm vin's must match or you will get into lockout mode like the OP. The only way to get the VIN's to match is to take it to a dealer sorry.

do you have 2 skim keys that are already programmed? i think that is the only way to program them yourself.
