Post by titansxt » Wed May 12, 2004 7:39 pm

Ok...
0. You may want to disconnect your NEG terminal.
1. Open hood.
2. Pull out the 3 clips that hold on the grill. (6 parts)
3. Unscrew the the headlights. (2 long, 2 short bolts)
4. Unscrew the 3 bolts that also hold down the top grill part.(3)
5. Go to the bottom of the bumper, and unscrew the 3 that look like the 3 above.
6. You may want to jack up the car. Get the 2 screws out of each fender well's splash guard. (4 total)
7. Pull the clips out that hold the splash guard in. (4 total)
8. Pull back the splash guard and look at the fender and bumper seam. Unscrew the 3 bolts there.(6 total)
9. Pull down and hold on.
10. Unplug the fog lights and the side markers.
11. Now the bumper should be off.

When you removed the bumper cover...did you by chance notice a sensor on the bottom center area that looks like the AIT sensor?

Was it just a sensor hanging around down on the bottom(the lip[ by the radiator)? Or was it one plugged into something?

I think some srts had them (temp/N-E-S-W), not 100% sure. I don't see any reason why to disconnect it. Did you?

Ummm... I dont' think any SRTs came with that. Only select few R/Ts tha mainly had the leather package. I don't have a brochure handy to double check what the option package was called.

How do you remove the black grill? I'm trying to get the little clips off but they aren't budging.

Black grill as in the honeycomb stuff? If that is what you are talking about, it is connected in from the indside of the whole assembly. So you have to take off the front facia to get to them.

Or are you talking about the black plastic clips?

Well I finally got it, but it was pretty tough. The red clips were a pain to pop and then pull the grill out.

You can see from the pic that I messed them up pretty bad.

Image

EDIT: I just realized I should probably stop referring to them as "red clips" because not everyone has a red car. lol.

My 2003 R/T has the tech mirror with temp and compass. I think it came with the leather package. The outside temp is great, but the compass always points SW since I put my subs in the trunk

I know when its disconnected the car overheats like a SOB I had mine unhooked because I thought it was a plug for the fog light connector and let it idle for about 15-20 minutes while I was working on the interior last winter and the temp gauge was in the red, needless to say I shut her down and plugged it back in. Its worked fine since, I think it has to do with the fan control, because they never came on with it unplugged.
