That solenoid is located on a bracket underneath the battery try and brake master cylinder. I just yanked one of my car if anyone needs it. (See FS).

How is the wiring? If there is bad wiring, replacing the sensor won't do anything.

:withstupid:

The heater is what gets the o2 sensor hot enough to start operating sooner, so the PCM can go into closed loop sooner. IDK what the resistance is across the heater elements, but you could ohm out the up stream, if you have a multimeter, for comparison. I imagine they both use the same heater. If the sensor is good, then the wiring or PCM is bad.

The PCM sends the voltage to the heater.

Image

You will need to ohm out the BR/VT wire from the PCM to the o2 sensor, and the BK wire to ground.

Just where the circuit has failed is going to be the hard part to find, if the sensor is good.

got another dumb question...would it be possible to throw this code on a California car if you swapped ex manis to a R/T that you had a bung welded in for the O2 sensor? im thinkin i might swap back to stock if that the case

You can get this code from a piece of ice demolishing your downstream sensor. Found that one out...

Missed Nick's last post, but no, the heater circuit has nothing to do with which manifold is there. Most of the time it is the o2 sensor. Or the wiring at the sensor damaged from road debris, accumulating ice on the wires.... which works wonders for tail lamp wiring on older vehicles too.

Your lower sensor is probably just dead. Replace it if its never been done. The heaters fail in them, followed shortly by the sensor portion of them. If you just leave it, you'll have another code soon saying oxygen sensor signal centered(no rich or lean condition detected) Basically no reading.

Unless of course you've done something to the wiring for your o2 sensors recently, in which case, id check that first.

P0441 after fans replaced

Post by rfw0002 » Sun Aug 14, 2011 11:20 pm

2005 neon sxt 72k miles code p0441 for evap issue . Just replaced cooling fans and check engine light came on. Is there something I could have bumped or disconnected causing cel to come on.

Not that I can think of, sounds like coincidence. Did the CEL come on immediately when you started it up after installing the fan assembly? Have you tried resetting the PCM (disconnect the battery) and seeing if the code returns?

post resurrection. How important is this sensor as my car threw P0441 today as well. Was driving to an appointment in the rain and stopped for a train crossing and boom on went the light followed by a ding came home and checked code to see p1648 (battery?) and P0441. Any help or advice appreciated.

Mine ended up going off about every 6 to 8 months until I fixed the vacuum line. It isn't really critical to how the car runs, just gets annoying with the CEL coming on when you are cruising down the highway, and you don't know if it is something important or not.

On your 2002, the solenoid should still be under the brake booster. It is prolly a PITA to change, as far as reaching it. Most likely, it would be a reach up from under type job. IDK how easy it would be by removing the battery.

The battery code, may clear, or may never clear.

Thanks OD. I agree the solenoid is gonna be a b&#ch Im in cahoots with Mike on a fuel line. I don't have a garage and it's currently pouring here in NE So, tomorrow Im gonna go take a look at the fuel lines under the car to the tank and canister to see if any of the lines have rotted. Figure it would be a good idea to replace those lines about now anyways. body is at 129K :banghead:

yep and yep. Figure here in NE between the retardedly hot and humid summers and the salt galore winters, the lines have probably seen better days. That plus, I realized I'm getting closer and closer to a full overhaul on the whole damn car. Mike is selling it cheap so why the hell not.

Just for reference, the NVLD was the culprit on my car. Pretty simple to replace once the passenger rear tire is off. I don't know how the operation of the NVLD compares to the 00-02 LDP.

04 Neon SE. I had the CEL come on today when car was idling in drive.

Key dance says P 0441.

Would this be covered by the 10 yr power train?

If not, what hoses do I first check for? (before chaining anything)
