Hello which year is the better motor to have the 03, 04, 05 srt4

I have always heard that the 2004 is best... but why I don't know. I'll let someone more knowledgeable explain.

Are you asking just about the bare engine? If so, the injectors are the only difference between those years. The 2003 had smaller injectors. The 2004 and 2005 had "Stage 1" injectors which were slightly larger.

There are several other differences at the car level, but that's the only difference at the engine level.

Strictly referring to the engine, injectors aside, 2003 to 2010 2.4 blocks are all cast the same, of course N/A and a boosted bottom ends being different, and some holes not bored or drilled/tapped. But any 2003 to 2010 block can be made into a turbo block with a bit of added machine work.

Some early turbo 2.4's had a forged crank, but finding one of those might be tough. And really, unless you have a large budget, you're not going to need it, as the following cast crank versions have pretty well proven themselves.

The 2002 and earlier heads flowed better in stock form though. But for stock oem purposes, adding boost made that negligible.

Another vote for 04. I know some guys who own one and haven't heard any complaints from them.

If you're looking for just a donor engine, any year from a boosted neon, or PT Cruiser will be equal. They are all the same.

A post 2005 PT engine might have the potential advantage of having less mileage, being newer.
