Would there be any drawbacks of running a stock plastic intake over my mag intake? I hate how huge the mag intake is and how hot it gets after a while. I ran a 2gn plastic intake on my mag head 1st gen with good results, but I'm not sure how an R/T pcm would affect the power.

Also...if anyone would be willing to make me a ghetto blaster that would be awesome! I'd obviously pay for it.

You might loose a little of that "umph" at 4900 RPM, but other than that, it should be fine. You would be dropping a few pounds too. The Magnum IM is very heavy, relatively, compared to the plastic IM, and even the DOHC aluminum IM.

If I only had the time, I would make you a GBI, but time seems to be in short supply anymore. I guess that is just the downside of owning a home vs renting, and a longer drive to work.

Having a larger IM inlet, to compliment a 60mm TB really does help. I have no complaints about the GBI, 60mm TB, and using an '02 R/T PCM.

I am a fan of the plastic intake manifold. Smile

* * What you can do to help improve flow a bit on the [plastic] 2nd gen intake, is to port 'open' the 'neck' where the throttle body is located.
The *optimal size* for a naturally-aspirated Neon, appears to be 55mm I.D.
( The I.D. of a factory / unported plastic intake, is: 52mm.... Same as the factory throttle body.)

I ported mine open, to 55mm, using a die grinder.
Work slowly and make it as smooth and round as possible.
Limiting the size to 'only' 55mm I.D., leaves plenty of plastic material, so there is no worry about compromising strength.

* From my own personal experience -- I have had better results using a 55mm throttle body on (naturally-aspirated) Neons, as opposed to the larger 60mm variety.*
55mm is the best balance between 'throttle response' and top-end power, I.M.H.O.

User 'kevo' has a great write-up, on how he had an SRT Throttle Body, ported open to 55mm :

Other than that, the other choices would be to:
- Find a good used 60mm throttle body;
- Or, try doing the 'half-shaft' modification, to a plastic throttle body + installing a '0 degree' throttle plate out of an NGC Neon, to gain a bit more flow.

-1998 2-dr SOHC MTX= 57mm TB; Maddog STS
-1999 4-dr DOHC ATX= UDP, Kirk Intake
-2000 Ply.LX with MTX = Maddog STS; CAI; 2.5 in. exhaust
-2001 Ddg. ES with ATX = UDP and Magnum header...Syked PCM 'pending'.
