Is it an anti lock system? (brake lines running into it)

The only other thing I can think of is it is the purge solenoid for the Evap Emissions. If there is a vacuum line that snakes around behind the battery and disappears behind the brake booster that connects to it, then it is the purge solenoid.

You can probably delete all the evap emissions stuff, and still be OK as far as performance with the '04 PCM. You will have a CEL and multiple codes.

If you are going stand alone engine management, then it is not a concern at all.

I am thinking Purge Solenoid.

As far as deleting it:
There will be No ill effects from deleting this, that I am aware of.
However, removing or defeating this part of the system will trigger a Check Engine Light. (For circle track or off-road racing purposes, this won't matter.)
