Hey...

It seems like I'm not sure about going with Raceland coilovers anymore.

My other logical option would be Koni Yellow inserts. There's no ride height adjustability obviously but I'm more confident in the quality and long-term reliability and also tire clearance. I guess I can use lowering springs later if I feel they're necessary.

Also about camber plates: what does the top part of the coil spring rest on ? Is there an extra part necessary there ? Or does it rest on the camber plate itself ? (The plates I am referreing to are the ones Bill posted about in a recent thread (Mookeh ones (sp?))

Thanks for any input. Smile

Aren't the Koni inserts about $200 a corner?

My guess is it depends on what you want to do with it.

I like my Koni str.t struts but I did experience a failed sway bar mount tab. I sold off all my lowering springs (while I still could) so I am still in 4x4 mode. I kind of wish I went with the Racelands for wheel gap removal but oh well. With that said, I think the str.t struts will out handle the raceland although I have no first hand experience. They are firm and seem to plant the car very well.

The koni inserts would probably be your best bet for handling but not for your wallet. Look up how to make your own coilovers using ebay coilover sleeves on neons.org. They seem to be the favorite over all the other options.

Awesome ! Thanks Jason.

Yeah, it's easy to forget what I'll really do with the car and start daydreaming. I like the other options you gave me too.

I'll keep thinking about it ! Very Happy

Agreed. That's still a chunk of change, and you need to modify your existing struts. IMHO, I would put that $560 towards bolt on coil overs, if I were to spend that much on inserts, and have to cut up the factory struts.

Well, I would consider the BCs only if Modern wasn't charging me 370$ for shipping. I mean, would you pay that much for shipping ???

Exactly, it's close to 500$CDN at today's exchange rate. Face Palm

Now I'm thinking that a great solid setup could be:

- junkyard strut housings (to save money)
- Koni inserts
- SRT-4 OE springs (for a slight drop, or Eibach Pro-Kit if I don't have a choice).

I'll be running some slightly bigger 205/50R16 tires, so the wheel gap won't be as big as it is right now, so the drop wouldn't need to be too big.

It would keep it below 1000$ and would provide very decent handling in my opinion. Anyway, either that or Racelands. Laughing

I'm still brainstorming. Smile

Man it is too bad you couldn't meet someone near the border to avoid those fees. How far away from the border do you live?

Well, if you decide to go with BCs, we may be able to work something out where I will deliver them to you (assuming you are closer to New Hampshire than Maine). Just a thought.

Thanks for the offer ! I could drive down too, but I'll definitely let you know if I decide to splurge and get the BCs. Laughing

I would get them on Amazon.com like I did and get free shipping..
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E0PT9NU/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1458884090&sr=1&keywords=BC+Coilovers

Just a thought.

Edit: on Amazon there are other sellers outside of just the one I linked.. there are others besides Modern who sell stuff for Neons, I use amazon all the time for OE parts.

Well, again, you get free shipping because you're in the States. Wink

I'll figure something out when the time comes. Smile

For that vendor, yes. However, I'm sure they won't charge you $300+ for it either, there are a few vendors on that link I sent, I would see who is closer to you between them.

That said, I'm doing BC's on my SRT at the moment, they look to be a quality piece.
