Hello, has anyone else out there tried the little elm-327 bluetooth diagnostic tools? i gotone from amazon for like $5 and paid the same for the app and it is great. accept it doesnt work on my 02 Neon. Ive tried it on multiple other vehicles and it works great. Is this just a neon thing or am I having some kind of issue? Help? ~Thank You

Interesting. My '02 Magnum PCM will not connect to mine either...

The SKIM also does not function, so I figured it had something to do with that. It has a communication error code.

P1686 No SKIM BUS Messages Received No J1850 messages received from the Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM)., IIRC.

It doesn't affect engine operation, and I am running it in a non SKIM equipped car, so I really don't care to fix the issue.

It does connect with a code reader tho.

It connects just fine to my 99 neon. So it is not a neon thing in general. But there seems to be a few things that do not work perfectly. For example, the MPG readings are off (as in overly optimistic) and I cannot get a live reading from the downstream O2 sensor even after fixing the wiring and replacing the sensor. I do get readings from the upstream sensor.

But overall I totally agree: these bluetooth readers work well, especially for the price. I leave mine in the neon so I can check right away whenever the CEL comes on.

It works fine on my '99, just not my '01. But as far as the pcm is concerned, it's an '02...

Might be better to just get a code reader. I have one in my 03 neon constantly to clear the codes after the pcm goes limp from seeing misfires because of my 2step/wot box.

Code reader won't give you real time data.

Mine does to a point. http://reviews.matcotools.com/7535-en_us/2471594/matco-tools-proscan-plus-with-can400-reviews/reviews.htm it's the cheap version but not the cheapest.

The problem with a lot of these ELM 327 adapters is there are many knockoffs out there. Specifically, when dealing with the blue colored Bluetooth models. The way to tell the difference is the part that interfaces with the obd port will have a separation almost like a release pin where the legit ones is solid plastic all the way around. I do have many problems getting it connected to Bluetooth but not with it reading the pcm on my 2000. Most cars it can read, a friends 2000 Kia wouldn't connect to ecu, 2005 Cadillac STS will not clear codes but gets sensor data. Cleared codes on a Ford Diesel no problem.

He is correct, the knock offs don't support J1850. You can actually read about it here.
