Is there an easier way to tap into the dome light wires, other than removing the entire headliner? I've removed both front A-pillars and can't find any wires that could lead to the dome light. I'm trying to hook up my accent lights to come on with the dome light, so my footwell lights up when the door is opened I have an 03 neon SE. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What about the wires that go into the switches in the doorjambs?

2001 up use the door latches to switch the dome light.

The yellow wire under the dash, driver side C305 is the grounded side of the dome light, that is what you will want to ground the lights to.

The cluster controls the dome light timer, shutting it off. I have no idea of the amperage rating of the Courtesy Lamp Control, so I would use a small relay, and use the yellow wire to ground the relay coil. So the relay switches the added lighting.

The added lighting probably won't fade out like the dome, but will cut off when the relay coil releases as the voltage gradually drops.

In the same connector 305, there is a pink wire. That is fed by fuse 4 in the cabin fuse box. The pink wire is the hot side of the dome lamp, cargo lamp, and mirror map lights - if applicable, and is always on. The Courtesy Lamp Control in the cluster controls the ground path.

The door ajar switches go into the cluster at pin 24, and tell the Courtesy Lamp Control to turn on the dome light. They are not directly connected to it. So tying to those may result in the dome light not shutting off, and the cluster chiming would eventually drive you insane.
