Are the borders of the paneling actually made of wood? I assume the darker areas are some sort of vinyl.

The flat pieces are stickers and the raised edges are plastic like the bumpers.

Oh man. What a shitter. My mom had an eighties LeBaron when I was a kid. Blue on blue. K cars really are crap. Although, that particular one makes one hell of a sleeper. So naturally, I dig it.

Eh, they're cheap 80's cars. For some reason I really dig them. When I had my bone stock 89 TBI Reliant I really enjoyed it as a daily. This was after I'd owned neons lol. I will say this is modified a lot suspension wise. It has a 14:1 shadow rack, SRT struts, Daytona Shelby rear springs with KYB shocks and a large front sway bar. It rides and handles really nice.

withstupid I owned a K-car when they were new ... suspension and build quality was awful. Switched to Mitsubishi-built Dodges and Plymouths,
after that one.

Suspension feel really got a lot better when they switched to dual pivot control arms in 88. Why dodge went back to the pinched bushing in the neon I'll never know.

Jeremy if we ever cross paths I'll let you drive the wagon. It's fun and handles rather well for what it is.

Why did they go backwards to press in wheel bearings? Cheep Cheep Cheep!

I was so happy when they went to the bolt in style after all the hassles we had with the Omni's and the ground strap issues. Then they go stupid and revert back to press in bearings again. bandhead

True! I wish this had the original bolt in hubs but it has SRT spindles. It makes it have the turning radius of a dump truck.

Drove it to work today and came to my car during lunch. Found this note. Honestly a first for me.

Oh man. I will definitely take you up on that. I've read about that car for years and it would be hilarious to get the chance to actually drive it. Too bad you're 2,760 miles away. Although, my wife lived in Baltimore a while back and she's been wanting to visit again.

That note is hilarious. I probably would have done the same, but I know what's under the hood.

That's kinda funny. I lived in Baltimore for about 5 years, and my wife is from Eastern Washington (more where TNK is from). We've been talking about going to the PNW for a while, but I doubt I'd drive the wagon out. We'll see though we do strange things like that. I did drive an 89 grand caravan 1650 miles from Texas.

I guess I need to update my location. I'm in Hanover, PA now.

Maybe someday I'll make the trek over to Carlisle, or one of those huge Neon meets that seem to happen over there. I'm confident in my car's ability to make it over, but that's some serious time on the road. I don't think my kids would be able to take it and I might go insane by myself. It would be fun, though.

You would really enjoy it if you could endure the drive. Have you thought about shipping your car to Carlisle and then flying there?

Your comments make me glad that I'm closer to PA- now if I could just get the money up and time off one of these years... cussing

Shipping is 900-1500 each way across the states. I looked at buying a car in Oregon and having it shipped here. Not really worth it.

However flying out and borrowing a car to drive for the event might be possible.

Ordered 15mm spacers for the back wheels of the wagon. Front has 13.5mm of spacers. Looks far better than before.

That kind of defeats the purpose for me, though. I'd want to show off my own car (even if it isn't very impressive). And shipping it is entirely too expensive. I'd definitely make the drive; it's part of the experience. Add some rock chips to the collection.

Has anyone from the West coast ever made the trek?

IDK. We have tried to get members from Australia and Germany to make a Carlisle but the West Coast might be more realistic. Very Happy

Furthest so far has been EJ from Wisconsin and Dave Dudeck from Missouri. About 1650 miles each.

PhillyLS1 gave me a set of wheels when I helped him with his SRT last. Rota Slips in 15x7 with some well used 225/50/15's on them. Will need tires still weighing my options on what to buy.

The Slips look nice. I've always been a fan of their simplicity.

My map says it's 2717 miles to Carlisle from my house. That's pretty daunting, but I'd consider it. Maybe next year.

I have been counting on making Carlisle 2018 but pending surgery (or surgeries) may make me put it off until 2019. bandhead

Thanks. It's almost a shame my "rat rod wagon" as you called it schools it.

When I fill up my company vehicle, I also swipe either a Speedway Speedy Rewards card or a BP Driver Rewards card. I've used the accumulated Speedy Rewards to buy prepaid cards for Applebee's while I'm at Carlisle or when I've been in Wisconsin for chipdogg's meets. I buy BP gas for my SRT and had been saving up the cents off per gallon discount for a few months. Redeemed the Driver Rewards discount today today with 6.748 gallons of premium for $2.15. Very Happy

Didn't take many pics this year and I won't upload many. Wagon won best non neon again and my SRT placed second on the show field. I think 2gn members all padded the votes for it though.

Also, I bought esteinmaier's s10 this weekend as a farm truck. I had to drive him back to the airport in Arlington, VA, and when I got there my wife called to tell me she got a flat in the SRT. I ended up driving back to PA to change the tire for her. Now to decide if I want to buy 15's now or get tires for my fat 5 wheels or my SRT wheels.

Congrats on the award but sorry about the flat. One of the reasons why I bought a full-size spare yesterday.

That last pic really makes me sad that I couldn't attend this year. sad2

Are they letting you vote in your own class again? I think two years ago, we couldn't vote on neons.

Went out to wash the Neon so i could drive it to work tomorrow for the first time in two months and of course when i started it up there's a check engine light. Sad Minor thing hopefully but means she doesn't see the road until Friday at the earliest. Ugh.
