Hello,

Just got the Neon and looking around - opened hood and this was laying on the foam on the cowl drivers side hard to look at the part numbers.

I think it has to do with hood hinge but hood closes fine no gaps ...

Any clue......

Thanks

Not a clue. I don't believe it goes to anything under the cowl, but I could be wrong.

If you can get a good look at the PN and type it out, it may help, or it could be a pre formed PN.

528321xAA is about what I make of it.

But entering 0 throguh 9 in the x digit doesn't bring anything up.

The sad part is with a lot of dealer on line parts sales, once they discontinue a part, a lot of the time it just says part not found. Sometimes it will say discontinued, and have a description.

It's a battery hold down that bolts to the front of the tray.

You beat me to it! I should have known right away considering how many times I've had to handle one of those when removing the battery.

Yep, been waaaay too long since I've done anything with the 2gn. I just couldn't place where I had seen it.

Battery has sat in it for 2 years and 2 months now...

Edit: It appears it is part of the battery tray assy, and not sold separately. Might want to hang onto it, in case yours is missing, or becomes lost.

The neon parts catalog shows (not pictured):
6101863 SCREW AND WASHER, Hex Head, M8-1.25x30, Battery Retainer Holdown MSRP $1.85

That's as close as it gets to separate battery tray parts.

It also comes up as:

Cooling Cooling fan Shroud Bolt Bolt

Actuator rod bolt (Lift gate for 2017 Grand Caravan)

I'm glad that one isn't yours. Shocked I just had my OEM tray and retainer powder coated recently to prevent oxidation like this- I'm assuming this is from battery leakage?

Yeah, it's common....
Keep in mind there's not many Neons out there with owners that take care of cars like we do, they just turn the key and go. So Im guessing the battery in this car must have had nasty corrosion all over the place and seeping down the side of the battery Laughing

laughing3
I was thinking that the OP's part had been preserved pretty well by being somewhere other than the battery tray.
