Michigan roads bite back!
Ran over a barrel base thingy. Wrapped around the tire and destroyed the fender. Fun times.

Man, that sucks. I've passed over a stray barrel base before (in my daily) and wondered how far those actually stick up. I guess I have my answer. Best of luck with getting that fixed. Think insurance will cover it?
We've had cooler than normal temps in the region this week. A couple nights it has gotten down to 50 with highs only in the upper 70s-80.neonslg09 wrote:Damn man, sorry to see that. Btw, it's July 2. And you are wearing a jacket

Yeah it was a bit chilly last night and I didnt want to get one of my nice shirts dirty. So I wore the jacket.
My insurance wont cover it I dont think. I only have liability on the neon. Fenders are cheap anyway so Ill just pick on up on my next junkyard run. Gives me an excuse to get a new hood, paint the bumper, the new fender, and repaint the side skirts.
Im not to mad Gramps. It only ruined the fender and nothing else. It was just the base of the barrel laying in the road and cement barriers on either side so I couldnt swerve to miss it. So I had no choice but to hit it head on. If I made a big enough fuss at MDOT, maybe they would pay for it but I doubt it. From some of the other horror stories I hear from other friends its not worth it.

This was on M59 going eastbound right out of Pontiac. And I usually go to Parts Galore to find my neon junk.Pablodragon wrote:wow, sux... and also being from Michigan...
What road was this on?... and what junkyards are you stopping by to find abundant Neon stuff?
I dont think the coilover is bent. The car still drives fine and doesnt pull.
