alright, i have been thinking about this for a while now.... and i would like to go to a AMM box style intake manfold, but on a boosted car, would there be any real noticable gains from a indy intake to a AMM.... the amm is deffenetly a bling factor for sure in my book (but 400 dollars for just bling i dont think it is worth it unless i am getting some power out of it as well).... but i am just wondering if i go with an AMM should i go short runner or long runner with boost? i am going to also have him (if i do it) install my nitrous nozzle in the manifold, making the engine bay hopefully alittle cleaner....

mike says that the AMM does have dyno results for N/A cars of a few hp, but that is also on non boosted engines...

i have been talking to all motor mike a few times but i am just unsure if it is worth the 400+ dollars for a new intake..

any thoughts?

I'm going to say if you have an Indy already/or can get one cheap/reasonable, it would be your best bet. The runners are already suited for boost. They are too large for most N/A apps. Unless AMM is making the IM from a flange out, with larger runners dedicated for boost, I would stick to the Indy.

Just comparing the SRT IM to a N/A IM the runners are short, in relation to the diameter.

But then Mike could taylor the inlet to work with your piping, VS making the piping work with the Indy, or cutting/welding the Indy.

Your HP goals may also have some deciding factors.

alright, thanks erick, i was hoping that you were going to chime in on it..

and honestly getting all motor mike to port my indy may not be out of the question, i have done a mild port and polish on it, but nothing to extreme....

Skip Mike I can put you in touch with Arthur and see if he would do the porting. As he is the one that proved how much power the indy can make. And he can port like a mo-fo. I have ran the indy before on a boosted motor and I have another one sitting here that's going on a friends car as soon as he comes and gets his turbo kit.

I vote for the AMM, the one I had 3 years ago was a large plenum short runner with a 2 1/2" input......

it made most power out of na cause when I bought mine it was rated that with the upgrade the AMM it set him the one tester at about 190hp ish N/A. The short runner which I had was really beneficial on creating torque. I still have mine and honestly It was probable one of the best manifolds out there. if you plan to boost it Mike told me it was not rated for boost so you might want to consider having it redone for a boost application. I have a write up about it in my project log. I would recommend them to you but you but you would need to see what mike can do for your boost application.

AKA have the indy ported if your doing anything a port vs price of a new manifold it wont be significant i dont think i could be wrong
