Turbo kit!!
I splurged last night and purchased the full chill factory turbo kit. Bought it off a member on here. its nib.
Heres what i now have :
-Turbo
-Wastegate
-Manifold
-Downpipe
-Intercooler
-Intercooler piping
-Air intake
-All turbo lines
-Spoolboy canister and pump ( walbro 255)
-Return kit
-AFPR with fitting
-Vac block
-BOV
-Boost controller ( manual)
-Injectors (620cc)
ok so things still on my list are:
downpipe
megasquirt
boost gauge & pod
Wideband?
anything else im missing?
also, should i even bother running a wideband if im running megasquirt?
Since the chillfactory turbo kit is designed to bolt directly up to the stock cat, i went on ebay and ordered a stainless 03-05 "2.5" test pipe" it was only 50$ and will get me buy until i can get a custom 3" made
on another note, somebody on here messaged me and told me i shouldnt have bought the kit because it was designed for 00-02 and wont work with my car. I think their crazy, Everything IS the same other than wiring/computer.. Any input on this?

I'm surprised you found a CF kit. They stopped making them around 5-6 years ago. You get a good deal?
They were quality kits, but from what I remember in my search was that they were missing a few small things. I'm sure you wont have a problem finding them, but that was a negative in my endeavors.

There just small things that you won't know until you start installing. Like clamps lalala etc. That MS, Downpipe & wideband & boost gauge wit pod is going to set you back another umm $800 maybe then you need to find someone to tune it for you because I don't think you can just plug & play.
But just saying hope you got spare cash as its always a must when doing engine stuff.

I plan on getting everything from the kit bolted onto the car after carlisle, and then letting it sit till i get the rest of the money. Like i said, the downpipe i picked up ( aka test pipe) was only 50$ on ebay.
the ms unit, i can get for less than 300$ ( if the person selling it still has it)
The person before me looked over the kit and got everything together already ( they were going to turbo their neon) So im 99% sure everything is there. I should be set back another 500 not 800. Hopefully i can get this together before the winter and get a few runs in.

Just fittings and clamps; random little parts that Manny was talking about. Once you start on it, they seem to add up pretty quickly. And for only paying 950 that isn't too bad. I think those kits were running close to 3k back in the day.
I would say scrounge up at least 1k to finish the job with tuning etc.. and possibly closer to 1500-2000 for a complete, safe turbo setup. Anything over 250 ft tq is iffy for the neon.
Good luck and I'm sure some of the turbo'd neon guys will chime in soon.

ive been pm'ing back and forth with eric talking about my turbo setup. Im going to be running ms with a piggyback type harness so i can switch back to the stock ecu for emissions.rOniN wrote:Just fittings and clamps; random little parts that Manny was talking about. He has told me he's seen as much as 24psi on stock internals.
he also said with a good tune i will be safe at 10psi on stock internals.
with the way my car sits now, ( no airbags, no ps, no a/c, no back seats, no trunk carpet, no spare, etc... i should be able to break 13's if my research proves to be correct.

o i dont know what kind of Clutch you have but you are going to need one, you can get away with using a stock PT cruiser clutch but if you plan to run alot of power then youll need a better clutch. Those are only rated at like 215 or 230HP

Pt clutches are good for 270WTQ. With the 2.0 and the comp400 cam you should make more HP than TQ when you turn the boost up.
So many neons so little time.

I want to do this to my lil sxt also. I've been looking around for a good write up on turboing a 2.0 but can't seem to find a good one. I was looking at the Hahn stage 2 here. Besides what is included in this kit, is there anything else I'd need. I have an ATX (for now) so I'm not worried about the clutch. btw, this is ok to do on an ATX, right? lol, I don't know much about turbos, that's why ima chiming in

can the atx be used with boost? yes it can but your going to lose some of your power due to the torque converter.Icon_xof wrote:I want to do this to my lil sxt also. there really is no good write up. check my thread thats a few below this and it will answer alot of your questions.
if you buy the turbo kit, depending on which one you buy you will also need an engine managment system like megasquirt.
i personally would go with the hahn 00-02 sohc kit and then buy ms. From what ive read, the hahn kit for the 00-02 and 03-05 are the same except the 03-05 kit comes with the hahn portfueler setup ( better off running megasquirt anyways)
hope this helps

Thanks a lot =] I'm not looking to do this until next year (unless I win the lottery or something, lol) so I still have time to research. I'll def check out your other thread though. I wanna know what I'm getting myself into before I start making provisions for the upgrade. I was thinking that the torque converter might cause a little problem with the boost. Would a high-stall torque converter help that? I would just say to hell with it and do the MTX conversion, but eventually when I get an SRT-4 added to my collection, my girl will be driving my SXT, and I don't think she could handle too much power on a manual, lol.

Damn, the ASP 2GN Neon Turbo Kit looks like the way to go! It's a few hundred more than the hahn, but with the extras, like the piggy back system to kill the limiters, $3699.99 is a decent deal =]
Now (and yes, here come more questions from my ignorance of turbos), does this kit come with everything I need to get it up and running? I read mention of upgraded cams and whatnot, but is that necessary or just another upgrade to open up the turbo's potential? I'll definitely look into getting a HSTC since I'm keeping it auto, maybe even a RMVB. That brings me back to one of my earlier questions though, would a HSTC open up some potential between the ATX and turbo?
Thanks for bearing with me guys. I decided just this year to become a car guy and now I'm addicted. I tell ya, these forums are about as priceless as a Haynes.

For an auto, frankly, the hahn kit will probably feel faster until you get into the higher boost levels. 1st gear will feel slow as hell with the bigger turbo on it. Why don't you get with me in PMs and we can figure out specifically what works for you.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

When you start tuning with MS, you'll wish you had a wideband hooked up to it.
That Hahn kit would not normally work with NGC, because the ecu doesn't play well with just a RRFPR. That's why they introduced the portfueler. Since you're going MS, this shouldn't be a problem.
