I came across this site and since I got a 2001 Neon figured why the heck not?
I have a 2001 Dodge Neon ES Motorsports Edition. I purchased the car brand new from a dealership in Smokey Point, WA on Halloween of 2001. Evidently they had the car since May and had it in the showroom but nobody wanted it. So they used it as a loaner car and marked it down to 12,999 and I couldn't resist since I am a big NASCAR fan.
I drove the car for a couple of years before putting it into storage while I was stationed in HI, the car only has 13K and no warranty LOL.
Its completly stock with the exception of a AEM cold air intake. I am hesitant to do anything else more drastic like a turbo or even a R/T manifold because of how rare the car is.
It has all of the R/T goodies including suspension and interior, plus sunroof, automatic and 4 disc CD changer.
In addition I am also restoring a 1966 Dodge Charger.
I'll have pictures up shortly.

Welcome man, and I didn't know the motorsports editions could be ATX. I guess you learn something new every day.

Glad to be here and glad to meet more people who actually know what a Motorsports edition is. So far I have only seen one Neon IRL and thats mine. I've seen two online and I have seen two Intrepids and one Dakota IRL.
I did create a Motorsports registry on Yahoo groups but never got anyone to join LOL
Anywyas, does anyone have any hard production numbers? The alst I heard was 1,500 of each (Neon, Intrepid and Dakota)

Yeah.. thats why I said that it's an ES with the R/T suspension and interior.BlackRoseRacing wrote:Welcome to 2gn!
As for the R/T goodies, probably not since you have an ATX....
You probably have a loaded SXT motorsports edition, there are very FEW R/T MS editions out there....
Any who welcome
The ES rename into SXT didn't come around until 2003, I believe.
Thats just going by what the window sticker tells me. I know that it isn't an R/T but it has everything that the R/T came with with the exception of the motor, manual transmission and traction control.

SXT started in 02. And I'd like to say THANK GOD you're leaving that car stock! I saw a Motorsports Edition at Carlisle that had frog doors and a body kit! I wanted to kill the kid! I'm glad you recognize what you have.
Welcome to 2GN. If you need any help with that Neon, you've got a great knowledgeable group on here.
