hesitation after shifting into 2nd...

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

hesitation after shifting into 2nd...

Post by supertrick_05 » Thu Apr 26, 2007 5:26 pm

It doesn't happen all the time, just once in awhile, but when I'm driving, shift into second, and start going again, it seems to hesitate or "bog", then it picks back up after a second. It's done that for awhile, but never got around to asking about it cuz it doesn't happen that often. When it does though, it really pisses me off. Does anyone know what it could be? I'm replacing the plugs/wires when I take it out of storage, so yeah. I'm hoping it's an easy fix.

Yeah, I get it when I do a smooth shift into 2nd. It gets really loud for a second and bogs hard. It sucks when you're halfway through an intersection, so I just floor it and after a second it moves.

I used to have the hesitation going into 2nd...then I got the PCM reflashed and it went bye bye.

Under the powertrain warrenty it should be free. Otherwise I think it takes 30 min, or 1 hr.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I think the problem was fixed in '05. Only the 03's and 04's show the TSB for tip-in sag. The '05 drivability TSB doesn't mention hessitaion (just skiming through the TSB). The '04 TSB states 0.8 hrs.

2004 m/y TSB's

These are just some of the 2004 m/y TSB's. There may be some more ubscure ones. Best to ask your local dealer about any TSB's for your car. They should be able to give you a list bases on your VIN.

im most likely wrong, but i think it has to do with your mass airflow sensor and an upgraded intake. Computer expects airflow from a stock box, and gets too much, and cuts fuel down.

Well mine is an '05 and it does whatever I explained at the top of the page. My car has 32,xxx miles on it...if I take it to a dealer, it should be free then? Do I just tell them what is happening and they should know what it is?

Well. Once in a while, I'll be driving, and I'll shift into second, let my foot off the clutch, give it gas, and it will go, and then suddenly it will bog, like somebody pressed their foot on the clutch for a few seconds, and then left off, even though this is not the case.

Is that what is happening to you?

I've taken my car in for this, and for car starting issues, and the dealership blows me off.

Mine does it too, but not usually in second. Ive had problems driving around in 1st on/off the clutch (like in a low speed parking lot). It hardly happens anymore, but I can make it do it everytime on command by disengaging the clutch and then letting it back out while rolling in 1st. Never fails. definatly an NGC issue, 03+. Ive heard of people getting the flash and still having the issue, so since it doesnt bug me and I know how to avoid it I never took it in.
