Info from allpar
The Dodge Rebel's (we're going to use the name until Chrysler announces something) engines will run from the 1.8 (probably only used outside North America) to a 235 horsepower turbo-2.4 in the SRT-4 version. The 2.4 liter naturally aspirated version will be quite potent with 170 horsepower - that's an estimate from Chrysler. All four cylinder engines will be the new world engine jointly designed by Mitsubishi, Chrysler, and Hyundai, and built in Michigan (and Korea and Japan). There may be a hot optional engine, designed and built by Chrysler, not needing a turbocharger. A diesel will be available in Europe and, quite probably, in the US as well.
The Dodge Rebel will be built in Belvedere. The Dodge Rebel is being designed by Chrysler and Mitsubishi engineers. While both are working together on a common platform, the final cars will be different in character. In North America and Europe, the Chrysler version will reportedly be used, even when sold under the Mitsubishi name. In Asia, the Middle East, and South America, the Mitsubishi version will reportedly be used, even when sold under the Dodge name. The Dodge and Mitsuibshi versions will have unique interiors and exteriors and different suspension tuning when sold in the same market. The EVO will have a Dodge version, with extensive Chrysler involvement in engineering in the two door version. The four door will be primarily worked on by Mitsubishi engineers, though members of the Neon ACR team are helping them, thanks to their strong rally and SCCA success. (The Neon traces its pedigree back to the Shelby Dodges, partly through John Fernandez). Mitsubishi has been a strong rally car and their engineers are no slouches. We're not exactly sure, though, why Dodge and MMC have switched places on the Rebel - the Stratus/Sebring/Avenger coupes were pretty pure Mitsubishi.
Personally.......I kinda like it......but we'll see what DCx actually brings out to us......

that picture is the EVO X (i believe) with a photo-chopped grill. still no definite clues yet as to if we are going to see a sedan replacement for the neon/SRT-4 or not. only thing chrysler has been showing lately as a small car replacement has been the 5-door hatch caliber concept. _________________ PHIL | 03 SUBY WRX | 98 PLYMOUTH STYLE SEDAN <- (SOLD)

Allpar says the name is going to be Dodge Rebel, and Chrysler registared the name as a trademark.
Also the SRT, EVO, and Elantra GT are supposed to be the same chassis, so it would stand to reason they would look similar.
I was in Columbus yesterday, drove the new SRT there for Lunch at Hooters _________________ "There is no doubt about precisely when folks began racing each other in automobiles.

Also the Neon and Lancer are soposed to share the same chasis. The Evo shares it's chasis with the Lancer Rally-Art, so do be surprised to see the same chasis in the base Neon as the Evo. _________________ Justin- I have nothing but smart ass remarks to add.

Personally, I don't like it. Take the wing off, change that FUGLY front end...and then maybe we'll talk.
Of course maybe I am just too much in love with the neon....and maybe I am still bitter. haha. J.k _________________ Van Winkle

Below is the most updated info on the Dodge Caliber. It will replace the Neon.

from what I've heard for a long time now, the replacement is the Dodge caliber, I even think dodge has anonced it at some big show (forgot wich one). I don't like that dodge rebel. But the caliber could look nice. Black with tinted windows, lowered a little and nice set of mags, could look good. Need to wait and see.
actualy here i found some info:
What Edmunds.com Says: After falling off the map in recent years, Dodge is hoping to make a splash in the economy car segment with this new, more dynamically styled hatchback.
What We Know: Dodge is expected to take a slightly different tack when it replaces the current Neon. Instead of a standard four-door, the Neon's replacement will be a larger, SUV-like five-door hatchback similar to the Caliber concept that was unveiled at the Geneva motor show. Underneath the new sheet metal will be a global platform shared with Mitsubishi. Not only will this new vehicle share its underpinnings with the Mitsubishi Lancer, but it could also be built on one of the latter's assembly lines. The Caliber will be one of the first vehicles to make use of the global four-cylinder engine developed by the triumvirate of Mitsubishi, Chrysler and Hyundai. Dodge officials have also announced that they intend to price the Caliber very competitively, with base models expected to start as low as $15,000 when it goes on sale next year.
theres a video about the caliber on this site

Above is a photoshop I made about 4 months ago, and IMHO, alot better looking than the obvious Photochop of the silver one on this page.
All they did was put a vertical bar through the grille, thats it, to give it a cross-hair look. To my chop, I added Charger headlights, Magum Grille-Airdam, and Charger Fog Lamps. I also shaved off the spoiler, and cleaned up the hood, I mean it should look like a car, not a transformer. |
