Post: #1   PostPosted: Tue Aug 19, 2008 9:00 am    Post subject: Paint. Any regular manufacturer color Reply with quote

I am willing to mix any normal manufacturer color in PPG's DBC line for 2gn members for a good deal. I just yanked a DBC mix bank out of a shop that wasn't paying their bill. And my manager said I can use up any of the tint I want. As just like the last bank we had to yank, the tints just sit around collecting dust and end up garbage(There are a crazy amount of rules about these banks through PPG and DuPont so we can't put them in another shop very easily)

Here is my deal.

ANY normal color(no crazy color shifting or anything. Just stuff you will find on any regular car)

25 bucks a Pint.
Plus 10 bucks for shipping. Shipping will be done through UPS and a tracking number will be provided.

If you would like your paint in spray cans I can do that also. The nozzles on these cans are the nice good ones. That spray the fan shape. Not the shitty circle regular ones. Cost for that will be cost of paint + 5 dollars PER spray can plus 5 dollars shipping per can. Shipping this stuff gets expensive due to weight.

I also have a really nice bright orange that I mixed for a customer and it was the wrong color. So I will do the same price for that if you want too. This color normally goes for like upper 70s.

If you have any questions about anything please just pm or post.

Thanks

Dan

Couple questions answered.
What are we getting for a pint??
A pint! lol. It is 16oz of acutal paint.

Just the base,no reducer??
Correct. This is JUST BASE COAT! No reducer. You will ALSO need to clear over the top of this! To get reducer if you would like to spray out of a gun you will need to find your local PPG distributor and get some DT reducer. It isn't too expensive. I WILL not sell it. Sorry. But after me buying it and selling it to you it would be cheaper for you to get it local after shipping and such.

What is the mix ratio?
1:1

How good is color match and coverage in your opinion??
Very good. Color match is def much better than your cheaper lines. Coverage is good as well. But coverage depends on ALOT of factors. Can't put white over balck and expect it to cover!

Will you match to parts like a fuel door if i send it??
No. Sorry. I have too much to do with my car and other things to spend countless hours paint matching. We are the best paint matchers in the area here as we spray out the test panels and such. Not worth my time at all.

How long have you been mixing paint??
I have been mixing paint and working at this store now for over a year. March 23 was my first day in fact. I am the main paint mixer here and any paint that needs to be mixed is MWAH!

How much training have you had??
Zero first day I went to Milwaukee Area Tech College for a year for auto body and refinishing. I got the job about 3/4 of the way through of that course. While working here I have been sent to Spies Hecker tinting/color matching school and PPG Refinishing Training. I am a Certified PPG Refinisher and a Certified Spies Hecker Color Tinter. I have also been color matching and doing painting on the side since school has ended. I have done everything from dashes, key fobs, to whole bikes.

Do you have a copy of the tech sheet so those of us to lazy to search can read it.
Lazy mofo lol. I can do that if you would like. Please state that IN YOUR "order" you would like a copy.

I want to know how many pints it would take to fully paint a Neon? I want to paint mines but I'll have to check prices here versus shipping your paints.

now if only someone would do my photochop request
http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=34670

Oh and can you do metalics?

This all depends on paint, set up, gun, pressure, primer color used, sealed? There are alot of factors. Will it be professionally done?
Door jambs, underhood and trunk?

If it is a profesional about 3 quarts would do. But like I said a lot goes into how much paint is used.

I can do metallics and pearls yes

Let me know

Yup. Try going to a dealer and getting it lol. Normal paint shops are going to charge you at least 60 or so.

25 + 10 for shipping. I can also pump them into aerosol cans!!!(Check for pricing in first post) I normally charge 8 bucks a can to walk ins!!!

PG4 is indeed a chrysler color. But I am not showing it is used on Neons. But that isn't always true. But it is a metallic green color.

So yes I can get that color.

...well its used on my dodge...? its an '01 though... so yea... i would just hope that it would be the exact color match, also does the pint cans you are talking about need anything else added for them to be used in a spray gun or is it just, stir, dump in the gun, and spray?

Just like any base coat a reducer is going to be needed. For this paint. DT reducer(I.E. DT860, DT870, DT885) Plus a clear coat is going to be needed to put over this paint. You can use any clear of your choice.

Go to your local paint supply store that is a PPG distributor and pick up a quart.

As for the paint matching I mix it up as perfect as I can. And the paint will be very close. But no shop can provide and EXACT color match. All shops blend as to hide the slight color imperfection. But you might be able to get away with out having too. Plus spray set up determines color as well. Pressure can lighten or darken metallic colors.

2pnts=1qt so i'd need 6 pnts of ***color to do entire car ( jambs and engine bay) pm me shipping quote to 96782 and I'll see if it's cheaper than buying it here with no shipping.

shipping is the downfall of HI.

I will get to all of you quotes and such tomorrow morning. I am very tired.

Sorry dude. I will not ship to HI. Would be way to expensive to ship and not worth it in your run anyway. Shipping overseas ALWAYS sucks. Especially when a liquid is involved.

Just a pint if you have a good painter who knows what he is doing With the proper undercoating used.

Shipping is 10 dollars for the pint. 25 for the paint. Just like all the others Rock ON

A pint. Like I said if you have a pro do it with proper set up then a pint will be for sure enough.

Just an FYI:

1 pint = 16 fluid ounces
1 quart = 32 fluid ounces

I need PRH blaze red. The only thing is I don't need a pint haha. I just need enough to do a stripe around all of my wheels. Putting it in a spray can would be sweet too. Shipped to 07470. What can you offer in terms of less than a pint?

Just an FYI:

1 pint = 16 fluid ounces
1 quart = 32 fluid ounces
