So today I'm at the dealership getting an axle seal replaced. Shop has 2 other SRT4s in so I'm feeling confident they know what they are doing.

This maintenance list keeps getting shorter and me happier. :-)

Done at Dealership

Post by dbesade » Sat Sep 24, 2011 3:04 pm

I'm all done,

They fixed my Grab Handles for free, and my Trans no leaky no more. I also picked up a Windshield sprayer nozzle for $14, only to find out that both were busted.

Stupid things. I'll get another next week. Will be nice to be able to use my sprayer nozzles again lol.

Meh, I haven't had fluid in my washer reservoir for months. How many miles were on your car when your timing belt broke? And you drove from Florida to Oregon!?!>!?
Keep an eye on that axle seal...LSP had issues with hers because the shop didn't replace it correctly. I did mine myself. Its not too bad of a job. Just pulling the old one out can be tricky. A lot of power needs to be had. I thought mine was seized in there! Glad the car is running good!

Hey, I had like 111,567 miles on my car when the timing belt gave up the ghost. Yeah in January of 2011, I picked up and moved to Oregon. I know, surprising, but I make a good bit more money out here, still working for the same company I have been, just now I can actually afford to fix the car, mod the car, etc.

Yeah I will, this Dealership is actually really good. They are definitely trust-worthy and genuinely are knowledgable about my car and the 2.4L in general. Yeah the car is running better every day. At this point I think I am done with Maintenance, lol as soon as I am done fixing stuff the my washer squirters. I have some fun stuff planned to purchase.

Update 9/28/2011 - New Parts!

Post by dbesade » Wed Sep 28, 2011 1:25 pm

Hi 2gn,

So I did some lighting mods, and more maintenance, and ordered some new parts. I used LSP's Gauge Cluster howto to change from Green to a light blue. If you remember, way back when I got the car first, it had dark blue lights. I also did the Cool-White LED in the License Plate holder, much better illumination.

I ordered new NGK 4306 Plugs, Gapped to .38, got a new Injen Air filter for my Injen SRI, my old one way pretty beat up, and no longer servicable. I also ordered an Innovate MTX-L Wideband. I am going to get the bung welded in, it comes with a 1" Bung, which aligns the Sensor even with the Exhaust Pipe and doesn't throw the sensor in the exhaust stream.

Hello 2013

Post by dbesade » Tue May 14, 2013 9:48 pm

Hi 2gn,

crap it has been like a year since my last post. Still have my SRT, still daily drive it. She is up to 118k Miles now. I've been in Ireland, UK, India and Arizona quite a bit lately so not so much time. Did some purchasing today:

Tires + Brakes
a. Hawk HPS Brake Pads Package
b. Powerslot Slotted F Rotors
c. Powerslot Slotted R Rotors
d. 4 x Sumitomo HTR Z III Blackwall Tires

I know, basic, but my 2013 List has (5) Sections of stuff to buy, hoping to get basic stuff done on the car, and get some restoration pieces as 120k is starting to show on the car since I daily drive it.

Hey Buddy,

Definately in the long term. In the short term, its helpful to check the fuel pressure at the rail since currently I'm having some weird hard starts every now and then and I wonder if its my Fuel Pump and/or regulator. She's got almost 120k on the stocker so its about that time.

How have you been man?

Update: Brake Work Done

Post by dbesade » Sun May 19, 2013 12:14 am

So,

Today we replaced all the Brake Fluid with new Fluid. Old stuff looked almost black, ick! Replaced the rotors all around with new Slotted Rotors and replaced pads with Hawk HPS Pads. Also replaced the old Bleeders with new Speed Bleeders, it was needed, some of the bleeders looked like crap when they were pulled out. This does complete my planned Tire and Brakes maintenance/upgrades for now. I will be ordering more stuff, so I'll keep updating :-). Also got my '03 Fuel Rail, will be mainly using it for a Fuel Pressure Gauge mounting point, BUT, likely a return line later on.

Tomorrow, if the weather holds out, which is doubtable at the moment, I am going to install my Wideband and check my exhaust gaskets at the down-pipe as I have had some issues there in the past.

Build List
Tires + Brakes Maintenance/Upgrade - $1100.97
a. Hawk HPS Brake Pads Package - $109.99 > ModernPerformance.com
b. Powerslot Slotted F Rotors - $209.99 > ModernPerformance.com
c. Powerslot Slotted R Rotors - $144.99 > ModernPerformance.com
d. 4 x Sumitomo HTR Z III Blackwall Tires - $308.00 > Tirerack.com
e. Mount + Dismount + Alignment + Balance - $227.00 > Les Schwab
f. Misc Tools and Pieces (Speed Bleeders, Jack Stands, etc) $100 > Local Store(s)

Another Busy Day With the Car

Done Today
* Installed Wideband (Listed above). What a pain in the ass, had to drop the exhaust (behind the downpipe) to get to the lower 02 Sensor. Since I'm Stage 2 w/Toys, I just Zip Tied the existing Lower 02 to the K Member and plugged in the Wideband Sensor. Routed all the wires, etc. At least its down.

*Some interior detailing, pulled everything out, cleaned seats, carpet, door panels, floor mats, center console, etc. Car smells clean, looks clean, new tires and brakes. Summer is coming along :-D

The Bad
I broke the dash the rest of the way, which is fine, Its on my list of stuff to purchase/replace.

I will keep everyone updated :-)

SRT4 Daily Driver Retirement.

Post by dbesade » Sun Jan 04, 2015 10:31 pm

Dear,

Well.. um whomever is left from back in the day who would read this message. MyNeonSaysHi and a few others I know have sold off their 2GN and moved on. Thus is the sad reality of life. On 1/1/2015, my SRT4 ended up in the shop again and thus that difficult decision had to be made.... the SRT, as a daily driver, was replaced. That said, I still have my SRT, not going to get rid of it, but now at least have the time to get all the little things fixed, and replacement parts installed without the hurry and worry of daily driving.

It has the 2.0L W/Auto (6 Speed), only 13K Miles on it. Did the auto since I didn't want the 1.4L Fiat, and the Manual on the 2.0L seems to have a lot of clutch related complaints. I'll try to be a tad more active on here as I get the SRT into the Barn and torn apart.[/b]

A few of us stragglers are still here.

:-) Glad to hear some people are still around. Daily Driving has taken its toll on the car... Any ideas for what kind of restoration or resto mod I should do?
