will an 05 pcm work in my 03 sxt or is it year specific?

It will work, but you may have issues depending on what transaxle the PCM's are setup for, as well as issues with the SKIM. Also, the R/T PCM has slightly different programming compared to a standard unit, so be aware of that as well. I believe you can have a dealer flash the VIN to take care of the SKIM issue, but I don't think they can change the actual programming/trans configuration.

cuz mine is for an auto and i have an mtx swap so im gettiung a bunch of codes

It may be possible, as the Howell NGC units were getting screwed up when the dealer was flashing the VIN to them, and clearing out Howells program. At least that was their excuse for it not performing.

All you can do is ask your local dealer, and hope the service manager is intelligent enough to ask someone else that may know, if they don't. Even if they have to research it and get back to you.
