Couple plugins to help with spam

Post by Johny » Thu Dec 01, 2011 2:34 pm

Seems like these has been a shit ton of spam going on lately. Here are 3 plugins what will take care of that:

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/keycaptcha/
Captcha: self explanatory, except its like a puzzle

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ban_hammer/
"An MCP module that bans and rids profile data of the usernames entered in the box. You may also use this to remove all their topics, replies, attachment, and PMs they sent. This module aids the moderation team in cleaning spam bot accounts and the trouble they left behind on your forums. "

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/j ... _anti_bot/
"Adds a hidden field escaped with JavaScript to prevent non-JavaScript browsers from registering. Also adds an option for legitimate users without JavaScript on to register for your forum. "

Good looking out man. One major problem though...

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/keycaptcha/

phpBB Version(s) 3.0.8

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ban_hammer/

phpBB Version(s) 3.0.5

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/j ... _anti_bot/

phpBB Version(s) 3.0.5

None of which are we.

Yep yep. V2, not sure what level.

Spam control is one of the many things that we can implement with the switch over to 3. We just aren't there yet.

Why don't we upgrade to 3.0? Something to do with the garage? I know the one we use wont work on 3.0, but there is another developer working with the base one.

I have it running on a forum right now, works pretty well except the fact that it's sql injectable:

You would have to ask Jason. I'm out of my league when it comes to the nuts and bolts of the BB :(
