SRT decel Gargle?
SRT decel Gargle?
Odd question, but what exactly is it that makes the the SRT rumble/gargle on Decel the way it does? I'm wondering if it's in the tuning. If so, what would I have to do on MS to make my boosted 02 R/T do the same? Right now it's very smooth on Decel.

Regular neons only shut them off on a hard decel. Light decel, they are still pushing fuel.
Some of it also has to do with how much the IAC is open during decel. If it is open more than others, the decel will be smoother. They did that more on carbureted engines with a solenoid to hold the throttle open, so it wouldn't suck as much fuel on high vacuum deceleration. About the only pupose it serves in injected cars is a smoother transition.
I bet if you blocked the IAC hole, you would see exactly what I mean. Or you could just unplug it, but you would get a CEL. Zero valve overlap also contributes to less popping and cackling, because you have less unburned fuel and less oxygen to make it ignite. A small leak after the cat (where applicable) will get you some more rumble on decel too.

It's overrun fuel cut. Turn it off, and you may need to add a little fuel in the VE bins affected. Don't go nuts though or you will just foul plugs. Let me know if you need help.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

Overrun fuel cut was already turned off.

Those sound violent! Like a decel 2step. My 03 always popped since I bought it with a straight exhaust to an OBX muffler. They called it bees fightin wasps in a can so I thought it was a neon trademark kinda. Since most others dnt like the sound as much.95srtswap wrote:OhNoA2.0 wrote:Odd question, but what exactly is it that makes the the SRT rumble/gargle on Decel the way it does?
