possible to swap ECU's from different years?Throttle BodyQ

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

possible to swap ECU's from different years?Throttle BodyQ

Post by SX2.0 R/T » Tue Sep 21, 2004 5:56 pm

I have a 2003 R/T and since throttle bodies don't seem to work on an 03 R/T and work fine on an 04 R/T, is it possible to swap out the ECU's so I won't get that "limp" mode problem?

I realize that they are both NGC comps and that this really isn't a great idea, but would it work? Or should I just wait it out and maybe some day way way far away someone will make an aftermartket computer (maybe even for the R/T's).

Thanks for your input

Ummm....Limp mode should not exist on an R/T. Limp mode is an ATX only problem. :?

I can't speak for the R/T's, but my ATX 03 SXT didn't have any problems after I threw in my 60mm TB, and I drove it 3.5k miles in the 2 weeks I was home on leave from Iraq. I'm gonna try an put in the 00-02 Mopar ECU in when I get back, unless FAST comes up with sumthin for me. I'm in contact with them to try an get a perf. ECU and fuel sys 4 the 300+hp/400 w/ NO2 I'm lookin at puttin out here within the next yr. I'm sure if we all get together an pester the shit out of someone, I'm sure they'll get the message that us NGC/non-NGC guys need this shit.
Sadly got rid of my baby, now own a 2002 WRX.....

its when your computer is basically at a loss of what to do. .like if you upplug your map sensor. .

it will set itself to a "limp home" map. where your revlimiter is around 4,000 rpm and you car runs rich as hell and like crap .

basically, so you can limp it home and figure out what hapened
