Getting people back to the forum...

Post by Diablo0 » Fri Dec 29, 2017 7:21 pm

How can we get people back to using the forum? I like Facebook but I'd like to get back to the roots of the website and bring people back to the forum.

Thoughts?

Of course; we would never condone such things.

doubt uses will come back to the forums.. because the cars are old.. and facebook is the giant (like google) of the online community

what makes a forum more useful
1-organization ( i.e. build threads, tuning, forsale)
2-persistence (i.e. how to's, pictures, how to )
3-search
4-active moderation
5-experience/knowledge transfer.. not the facebook "what's the best motor oil"

I’d like to see the forum as active as it once was. How to bring people back? Not sure...whose admin of the Facebook page? Maybe they can “help”

I think that's a huge part and also that even if you didn't use Tapatalk, the forum works well with a mobile browser.

The previous version made you zoom in and out to read everything and navigate.

I really preferred the older website vs this new setup, but I'm a grumpy old man at heart.

I kind of like the older style too.

I guess it doesn't help I lost almost 3000 posts.

Start making 2gn stickers again, buy some ads, ask Modern to mention the site... I'm a graphic designer and marketing guy. I have ideas.

That's also the plan... one step at a time. lol... Wife came to me yesterday saying she wants to get started designing and making stickers at the end of the month or next. Won't be until then since I'm changing jobs and have to travel.

Modern hasn't always been too active on here. They used to, and may still own neons.org so that's where they spent most of their time advertising.

I'm looking to redesign the main 2GN page... if you have ideas, I'm open to them.

You mean this page?

http://2gn.org/

Whatever you do, keep the dark background look. It's what makes this forum stand out, visually. Maybe make a trio of 2gn fronts, like the current version ('01-02 R/T), an '03-05 base, and an SRT version in a row or column. Hell, add a '00-01 base. I really like the original image at the top left of the forum, before the '03+ tails were added. I think it would be cool to create a variant of both the front and rear end logos with all the various model changes represented. More variations = more cost for decals, but giving people the option to have their car represented most accurately would be pretty cool.

Man had we been able to access the forum trough tapatalk years ago I think people would of stuck around more. But oh well.

I kept an active progress log for the past 3 or 4 years now. So I stayed around.

I hope people can come around more and maybe during Carlisle pictures can make it to the forum again since using the tapatalk app makes it easier to post pictures.

I've answered a couple of questions on the FB page, but in general, I really dislike it. I had assumed that the inclusion of real names and info would dissuade asshattery at a higher rate than the forums, but I guess I was wrong. Lots of useless back and forth, as well as a few legit fucktards on there. Forum for life.

No doubt, there are idiots of every age and walk of life on there. It just seems to me that people my age kinda poke around with it, but people even just a few years younger than me... it's like Facebook is cocaine and their computer/phone/tablet is a straw with boogers on it.

Nada, just typical me. Would love for the forum to come back like in the hay day but current landscape of social media makes that incredibly hard. I have no desire to hangout on Facebook.
