what are the differences between 1st gen springs and 2nd gen? I'm looking at a set of lowering springs for front and rear on EBAY. I have a 2003. the springs are for a 1st gen Neon.

1st gen springs are shorter than 2nd gen springs. Lowering springs for a 1st gen will be terrible for your car, not recommended!

Sounds like exactly what I want. This is a track car, it is completely gutted, glass and all. Running on a nascar 1/2 mile paved track. Only thing I have to do is maintain 5 inches of clearance under it. That would explain why the springs I bought for the front were so low when I put them in. They must have been off an older Neon. Are the cups that the springs mount in the same on the older Neons? I was just going to change out the springs and get that thing on the ground.

Yes, they are the same size. I don't remember if the strut mount is the same.
