Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

Jeremy, very nice! Was that your old ACR? Yes. It was my baby. Then I had a baby and I wanted to buy a house, so I sold it. That was eight years ago. I like the stickers. I was looking at the same ones for my RPF1s. Before I PlastiDipped them, I was going to paint mine grey and put dark red decals ...

True, that intake weighs a shitload. Especially compared to the base plastic manifold.

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

It's not a performance part. Leave it alone. LOL, the same could be said for side markers. I paint them so they blend in, which is the opposite of slapping a sheet of carbon on a fuel door. I don't like random stuff to stand out like that. Smooth is better. White side markers FTW. https://i.i...

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

Good numbers!

I totally agree with the CF gas cap rant. I have no idea why anyone wants a black/CF/chrome polka dot on the side of their car. It's not a performance part. Leave it alone.

Re: Weird valve rattle?

When I think of "rattle" I don't think of valve noises. Maybe it's just semantics on my part, but I'd be looking for loose parts and worn motor mounts. Noisy lifters are also a common issue with these cars.

Re: 2003 SRT DD

Yes, the SRT has the ATX light source. That's what I connected my light to. So what is the history on the car from the previous owner when it comes to maintenance major? Clutch/timing belt etc etc Curious what kind of boost leaks you find. That is always fun, hunting those things down  The...

Make sure the CAI isn't touching the hole that it goes through in the frame. Also double check all of your header bolts. Make sure they're tight.

Re: 2003 SRT DD

The car leaks oil, trans fluid, and boost like crazy. My first fix was the transmission leak, because it was the easiest to fix. It was coming from the end plate. Here's what it looked like when removed: https://i.imgur.com/C8PHUwal.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Igr46h0l.jpg About a dozen small bolts hold...

Re: 2003 SRT DD

It's really easy to hook up if you ever find one in a junkyard. All manual Neons have the power source under the shifter, for the light in the auto shifter. All you need to do is snip off the bulb holder and connect the wires to the cubby light wires and then run them up, behind the cubby. The wires...

Cubby light is back! https://i.imgur.com/z4CxTual.jpg I also installed the Torque Solution solid shifter base bushings from the silver car. That installation process is never very fun. I'm contemplating pulling out the big, fancy Alpine head unit. It has AUX and USB inputs, XM radio, CD changer, and...

I finally got around to installing the Torque Solution motor mounts in the SRT. The bottom was pretty straight forward. Check out all the oil under this thing. I have my work cut out for me with this car. https://i.imgur.com/xA5sVcYl.jpg The top mount, which is supposed to be the easy one, was a maj...

Re: 2003 SRT DD

I used Mopar PS2 spray paint. I sanded it smooth and coated it in silver, filled the slots and numbers with dark red paint, then cleared over it all. Two years of regular use and it's still smooth.

Re: 2003 SRT DD

The car had a really worn out leather shift knob that looked like shit. I pulled the stock one that I repainted from the silver car and installed it in the SRT. For those of you wondering: no, I will not do the boot-free setup in this one. Too big of a lint/crumb trap. I really liked the way it look...

Re: And so it begins...

That's kind of a chicken and egg argument, really. You can't pull the rug out from under so many industries without having a backup plan in place. Asking the US to invent parts overnight to fill massive voids, is unreasonable. Even if these tariffs expand US manufacturing in the long run, it's going...

Re: Questions about boost, now with even worserer issues

I can't help with the boost issues, but check your oil pressure sending unit. It's on the back of the block on the driver's side, with a bright green plug. They are notorious for leaking oil and setting off the oil light.

Re: 2003 SRT DD

I reinstalled the stock boost gauge last night. No pictures because stock. The car had a malfunctioning ScanGauge in its place that was doing nothing. I want to be able to monitor the boost, so in went the stocker with a red LED. On a side note, red is not a good color of light for these gauges. It ...

Whelp, P0522 and an oil light on the dash. This is either a sensor issue (pretty common) or the engine is about to blow. Thoughts and prayers.

For those needing SRT-4 axles, here are the OEM part numbers: LEFT: RL037623AA RIGHT: 5037622AA Apparently these have been discontinued by Mopar, but Rock Auto sells Mopar reman and other brands of axles under these part numbers. It's helpful to know the part numbers so you don't end up with standar...

Re: 2003 SRT DD

I just like the aesthetics of a smooth front bumper. I've never once been pulled over or gotten into any sort of trouble over the missing lights. I also really hate amber lenses and the cheap clear ones on eBay tend to crack and fall apart after a year or less. It's just personal preference. On the ...

Full R/T swap... :D I know, right? Perfect candidate. I should mention this car had 176,000 miles on it, the day I bought it. I'm going to see how it handles 200+ with regular driving. Most of these things get wrecked or torn apart by this point, so it will be interesting to see what comes up. I ha...
