Re: Brake issues and Upgrade

Re purposing compatible factory parts, is about as close as you will get to anything even remotely affordable. It just requires some creativity in some cases.

Are there any FCA products that you like? Charger/Challenger. But really not feasible (for me) as a DD, and way too expensive for a weekend toy. Until I win the lottery, neither will be in my stable. IMHO, buying any of the Fiat platforms is no different than buying any other import brand that is m...

Re: Dodge Dart news

The oil consumption thing was a limited issue to one year, The front turn signal issue was actually a wire harness not being routed correctly, and was pulled too tight. The tail light, probably a freak light bulb. If I judged an entire company off of one car, I would have been done with Chrysler yea...

Re: Brake issues and Upgrade

The opposite brake hose might be collapsing internally to some extent, putting the brake bias onto the other wheel.

A tire that is not the same model as the other can do this too.

Can't say I recommend hard braking/locking a front tire at high speed though. Might earn a Darwin award.

Have you looked at the Chevrolet Spark or the Toyota Yaris ? They're both "fugly" but sell well. Given the options for an economical car... or because younger generation, or price point is the only thing those folks can get by with. Does anyone know the best place to mount the aem water/meth tank and pump? Some people sacrifice their windshield washer tank. You could mount it in the left fender area, where the air intake resonator is/was. You would need to fab a filler neck, and some way to determine fluid level though. There ...

Not sure what you would blueprint. They are all programmed the exact same way for a given application. It's not like there are variable tolerances in that. The was Syked Tuning that would load a performance program into them, but he is in the middle of a huge lawsuit right now, and that option is ve...

Polar vortex is here again. Got down to -15 with the windchill last night. Ugh. Before I know it will be 95 in a 3 months! Stupid midwest weather. We get no seasons out here. :( Either way above, or way below normal. QFT! Wind chill was -1ºF and 10ºF without the wind this morning. Only got to 19ºF ...

Re: Intake manifolds

You could have bought a Magnum IM gasket, or a '95 aluminum SOHC IM gasket for the flange set up. But too late for that now. BUT: If the manifold is going to be plastic, you might want to replicate the o ring style seal that the oem plastic IM's use. Going with a flange like the aluminum manifolds u...

The stock PCM will handle those upgrades without issue. A better cam than the 12 would be the Comp Cams 400. The 12 isn't much bigger than the 2001 Magnum cam. The 400 is the biggest cam that the stock PCM will have zero issues with. If you are looking for a noticeable seat of the pants feel in powe...

Re: Where the hell this oil leak is coming from?

My 2001 has 210,000 on the front crank seal, and it's bone dry. I replaced the rear main when I did the clutch the first time, just because. It was still soft and pliant. My '99 had unknown miles; well over 200,000 on it's rear main, it started pouring oil one day. It was rock hard and looked like s...

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

You could try experimenting with the clutch master cylinder rod adjustment at the clutch pedal. My 2001 didn't downshift the best, until I made a few adjustments under there. After that, it shifted a lot better. It went from not going into first until nearly stopped, to sliding in at 45 mph if you w...

The vibration could have been more related to the wheel bearing. Now that it is getting louder, the bearing may have enough slop that it isn't so notchy on the bearing balls. I just recently had a right axle shaft go out on my Subie, and a week later the left wheel bearing. The wheel bearing was exa...

Also thinking about having the timing belt done. Its coming on 14 years old and has the original belts. But seems wasteful at such low miles. Re: 10mm Spacers

Get a proper sized wheel with offset and no spacers will be needed. I prefer no spacers. This. Find some wheels with an inch less backspacing. Or better, wider wheels with the added width to the outside. This will retain the proper scrub radius, and load on the bearings. If you're worried about the...

Re: Where the hell this oil leak is coming from?

The simplest ones to check, would be the Cam Position Sensor, and then the valve cover gasket.

The CPS gasket is a fairly common leak, and it runs down between the bellhousing, making it appear like rear main seal leak.
