Re: Need help.. 2" SXT muffler pipe ID or OD?

I would just remove the muffler and measure it to be sure on the ID. Soak it down with penetrating oil and loosen the bolt. If it is all factory stuff, and the clamp is not rotted to oblivion, the muffler will come loose of the pipe, if you keep pushing up and down on the exit end of the muffler to ...

From what I have read on the dot org, Kevin is mired in some kind of legal battle, and there have been some complaints about his stuff working as advertised. So the hand held might not be the best option.

Re: Need help.. 2" SXT muffler pipe ID or OD?

Pretty sure it is O.D. The actual muffler inlet pipe would be I.D to fit over the tail pipe.

A factory SXT muffler is 1.875 ID on the outlet. At least mine was.

Hopefully a 2gn handles the vibrations better than a 1gn. I reinstalled my balance shafts because it was driving me insane. For a stripped out interior, it might be a great mod, but for a DD, I personally wouldn't do it again. I really didn't notice any power loss after I put it back to stock. Going...

Not having a mortgage payment FTW! Then you only have utilities, and the rent to the government... IIRC, the metalcast/chromecast used a base coat/clear coat combo to get the gloss and depth. I believe it is the clear coats that don't take well to the heat. You can buy high temp clear coat now, but ...

That"s why a number of years ago they came out with add on electric oil pumps to keep oil flowing on shut down and also was good for pre start lubing There are also other options like "turbo timers", that are essentially a timer that lets the engine idle for x amount of time after the key is off. If you're family isn't interested in going, and if someone relatively close is going by themselves, and doesn't have a car full of stuff to sell, you could always try to partner up with them. Splitting the costs. You just would be a passenger is all. Paying half for gas, tolls if applicable, and the...

Regular paint doesn't seem to do well in under hood temps. I guess it gets just hot enough to break it down. Appliance Epoxy works well enough, but it doesn't exactly have a big color selection. Black, White, and Almond, and maybe Biscuit (which is a lighter version of Almond). They used to have Sta...

When looking up the pn on Chrysler/FCA sites, leave the zero off. Actual Mopar numbers do not include the zero, even though some of the PDF parts lists show it. I believe it was only there to make it more difficult for the general public to source parts without using a dealer parts person. Ii the pa...

Yes it is sad. They couple that were selling it bought it in February of this year. To me it was the previous owner that neglected it. Looks like it just sat out in the hot Oklahoma sun every day and was never washed and the paint was never protected. It's a shame that a car could be so f*$#-up in ...

The way I see it, if you were to turn in hail damage on anything but a relatively new car, they're just going to total it. If you are not attached to the car, no big deal, other than possibly getting screwed on the value vs what you owe. But that's what gap insurance is for. If it is not reported, y...

The lien alone could make or break the deal. If he owes much more than you're willing to pay, and even if you reach an agreed price, the title will not be released until he can pay the balance of the loan. Then there is the wait for the bank to process the title, which might be a day or it could be ...

If my first car had been a neon, I probably wouldn't be here today. I ditched mt 1st car a few times, but being built in 1964, it never even suffered a dent. I did once get enough grass between the bead and the rim to get a flat by the end of the day though. That Polara was a beast, and saved me a f...

IIRC the bolt circle on the wheels is also different than the Mopar Stratus.

Edit: What's with the two grids on the rear glass? Or is the tint job just that bad? I get the defroster, but it looks like a wider grid that contours the window. It has an antenna, so it's not that.

I have a SOHC 12 valve version of that motor in my 89 caravan. It has around 250k miles on it and it’s still going. The major issues got fixed around 1994. That motor makes pretty good power and will handle quite a bit of abuse. The only difficult part I would imagine is like any FWD V6 car, very c...

Chances are the parents didn't know their kids were out of the house. I know I snuck out plenty while my parents were sleeping. I never went joyriding in a car though. It was the bicycle, since that was darn near silent. But cars are pretty quiet theses days, and more people can afford A/C in their ...

I drive the extra hour, and avoid the turn pike. Probably save about $60 round trip. I took the turnpike to PA once, not Carlisle related, and that was enough to cure my cheap ass. The PA fees were ridiculous. Might be an extra hour and 45 minutes to two hours for you though. I know the turnpike onl...

Got the engine back in last night, ran it until the thermostat opened, and shut it down. It was 10:00 PM, so I called it a day. I filled the coolant funnel so it should have pulled in enough coolant as it cooled, and have no air in there. It ran fine, no nasty sounds or misfiring. It's quieter than ...

That bulb shield appears to have just been pressed on. maybe it was supposed to have some glue, but there wasn't enough? I'm sure the heat from the bulb doesn't help. Even plastic expands and contracts. I don't know if those shields are high temp plastic, or metal though.

For general info: The R/T rack is basically the same. The only difference is the steering stops might not be as restrictive. But those can be swapped between racks. Both the SRT and R/T have the dumbed down slower ratio, so inexperienced drives won't over correct and crash. Total opposite of ...

At least he has 4 windows. My '99 being a coupe only has two. A/C has never functioned since I bought it. PO's decided deleting the A/C and Power Steering were good ideas. PS was simple ad cheap to fix. A/C, not so much. Especially with the 2.4 under the hood, it adds to the, um fun level of finding...
