Re: p0335 fault and rattle

What year is your neon? Only 2003 to 2005 have a bolt on reluctor ring. You would have to drop the oil pan to see if that is what's actually rattling. The low voltage might be the source of the crank sensor code. Normally when there is a crank sensor issue, the engine just plain dies, and will not s...

Re: Part Number Request: SRT-4 Power Steering Pump and related parts

I believe the o-rings, etc come with the new lines. IIRC, Mopar does not sell them separate. When I needed an o-ring backer for my 2gn reservoir to pump seal, the only close option was to buy an entire aftermarket seal kit, and they didn't include that tiny nylon backing ring. Fortunately I did even...

Re: Midnight_Rider's progress log

The question is, why did Dodge decide to put the cooler there anyhow? Were they thinking that since the SRT-4 is a performance model that the owner would probably track their car or drive it harder? Since I personally had to fight those PS lines since they go underneath the transmission and the coo...

Re: Dodge/Chrysler News

It will be interesting to see if they can actually get any fuel economy out of it. I haven't seen an inline 6 yet that has gotten better than 20 mpg. They make great torque, but they also seem to suck at efficiency. None of the slant six cars I had could do better than 15 mpg, my Jeep XJ only made 2...

So you towed it to your place like that? Yep, it followed just fine. You just need to make sure the steering column is free to turn. I was a bit worried how it would steer, being there is no engine or trans in the front for weight on the front tires. But after making a few turns in the field, it di...

Re: Midnight_Rider's progress log

The Mopar hose set could probably delete the cooler, and easily reduce the cost by $50. That cooler is pretty simple, and flushing any contaminants out would not be a difficult task. Besides, it would have to be a pretty catastrophic failure to leave any debris in the u shaped tube. IDK if the regul...

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

I could only imagine how nice a AWD car would do with winter tires in snow. It is pretty phenomenal. I always made it through snow that was deep enough to come up the hood on the neon, but I had comparable snow tires on that too. But driving a 2gn neon in the salt brine they use anymore is a death ...

The TH400 is probably one of the most indestructible automatics ever made for passenger cars and trucks. I seen a few GM fan boys destroy their engines using the one feature it has: The ability to shift into second gear, while leaving it in the "1" position. It is at a fairly high RPM, but they woul...

Maybe the missing/intermitant VSS signal was messing with the PCI bus pulses, and did some sort of partial cluster test????

At least you found the issue, and things are happy again.

Any chance a ground isn't connected? The cluster needs the PCI bus to function, the Violet/Yellow wire, so which ever connector that wire is in, maybe give it an extra good look. Not sure about the fuel gauge, as it does not pass through the PCM to function. It does communicate through the cluster t...

Exactly, if they are that in love with it, any offer below the asking price is going to hurt their feelings. It's a fact of life that the car you built for yourself is not what other people are going to fork over big dollars for. The bulk of the money invested is what you paid to enjoy it. Don't exp...

Cam seals can give issues on the DOHC too, if they push out. Usually the exhaust cam seal, and it runs down the back side. But they generally only push out if too much RTV was used on the cam cap, and the oil drain slot gets blocked. Or it is really cold out, and the oil is very viscous. That's one ...

My '83 Omni had a 1.6 Peugeot engine. It wasn't a powerhouse, but you could rev the wee out of it and it did pretty well for a pushrod engine. It even had a better top speed than my '84 LZE44 Omni. Hopefully it is something simple.

The oil filter on my swap never stayed tight until I put the balance shafts back in. But the Stratus oil filter location is on the end of the oil pump, so it kind of amplifies those vibrations. I literally had to retighten it once a week when I was DD'ing it.

Yeah, the ASD relay or fuse will keep power from the fuel injectors and the coil.

It could still inject fuel if there is residual pressure just by pulling the FP relay.

Hopefully the oil leak is fixed!

5/16 -18 is the bolt size and thread pitch. 7/8 inch long. That's the odd part, because it would be tough to find a .875 length. all I have ever seen is in 1/4 inch increments, rarely are they in 1/8 inch increments. Not sure why they didn't just make them all metric, and tossed one SAE bolt size in...
