Re: Charms Project Log

Is that a rust hole in the rear crossmember, or some other bracket?

Re: Charms Project Log

It's crazy to think someone deleted the rear brakes [emoji23]. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk Should have just left the drums off, to save weight.... Probably will need new ones, I'm betting the surface is rusted to hell. Not many places turn them anymore. Or just search for a rear disc se...

Re: Charms Project Log

From the looks of that backing plate, there hasn't been any brake shoes in there for ages. What concerns me more, is where/how/if they blocked the rear brake line(s) at. Because without shoes, the wheel cylinder would have pushed a piston out the end, and the brakes would be really terrible....

Yeah, Mike's snapped clean off. Him and Ashley weren't going anywhere until it got replaced. I think that was the first or second Carlisle for me.

At least Jerry was able to limp it to a parts store, given that was a whole different situation.

Re: What is this connector for?

You'll need the wire harness that plugs into the mirror/visors also. IIRC, it runs up the A pillar. Or you'll have to at least have the connector for the mirror, and wire it in.

My guess is it's for the optional lighted sun visors/lighted mirror/temperature - compass mirror.

Re: Charms Project Log

Meh, there is no rhyme or reason to wheel bearing failures. I have only replaced the passenger rear on my '01 at 172,000, and the other three have 210,000 and are all quiet.

Having a spare doesn't hurt though, and you may need it to replace the replacement, before the other original fails. :P

Re: Random posting

The axles were bad already, when I did the 5 speed swap they had torn boots and I thought I should have ordered a pair then. It’s all good they’re done now, 12k miles later. Besides, why screw up an opportunity for future adventure. Heck, I just replaced the passenger wheel bearing that has b...

Re: 2018 Carlisle Official Thread

Mine was a 383, originally with a 2 bbl carb. The trans shifted hard before shift kits were a thing. You had to watch accelerating on wet pavement, with the Auburn LS, and the hard shift, it would go sideways pretty easily. I don't know how I didn't kill myself in this car, or keep from wrecking it....

Re: 2018 Carlisle Official Thread

Ran into a buddy of mine over the weekend who's another Mopar nut. He's showing up in his daily-driven 1964 Polara! That was my first car, a 1964 Polara 500 convertible. 50th anniversary edition. It had the cable shift 727 (Push Button) but it had a console shifter instead of the buttons. A lot of ...

Re: 2002 R/T Build V2

My 2.0 went from noisy to dead quiet, after replacing the worn exhaust guides. Go figure. It was $275 in 2007 dollars to have the guides replaced, and the valves/seats cleaned up. At the time I kind of regretted not just getting a lower mileage head, for less money, but in hindsight, that head was s...

Yeah, I recall when I hit 1st instead of 3rd, and the tach bounced around quite a bit. Damn oem shifter bushings anyways. Fortunately I found a couple neon sites and learned that slop in the shifter could be cured... I still don't know what held the clutch/flywheel/engine together. It was a ...

Re: Manny's 96 turbo coupe: update 6/3/18

It's fine with me tho. I never go above 6500rpm anyways. Definitely no need for 8k tack rpm reading. Since the DOHC was rev limited to 7200, I guess it just made sense to make it 8000 rpm. 7500 would have looked a bit odd. But yeah, for most of us, anything over 7000 is kinda not needed. Especially...

Re: Manny's 96 turbo coupe: update 6/3/18

So that's what a 7 grand tach cluster looks like. All the one's I have seen went to 8. One can only assume the SOHC cars got the 7's and the DOHC's got the 8's. Hmmm, I also noticed the cluster has stops at just over 7 thousand, and 120 mph. I'll have to look later to see if my cluster has those.

2gn center console FTW.

I have to admit, having both the 2gn console, and the '00-'02 steering wheel in my '99, it has a pretty close feel to my '01 in the interior.

I like it a lot.

As long as FCA continues to not have any small vehicles Assembled here in the US... Probably a bit more accurate, and that applies to any car manufacturer. Re: 2003 Neon Cranks but won't start, P0344 code

LOL, I don't see the connection between the MAP and the IAC. First I've heard of that one. With the IAC unplugged, it would be very hard for the engine to start and run, unless the throttle is cracked open a bit. In normal operation, the IAC solenoid opens all the way when keyed on. As soon as it fi...
