'04 low idle issue

2004 atx base neon. It has a low idle issue that I can't seem to resolve. It happens mostly when the car is up to temp. The idle drops to 500-600 rpm and the entire car vibrates. Holding the brake and tapping the gas puts the idle back to where is supposed to be for a smooth idle. I dont have to rea...

I guess I'm the only one that uses a Motorcraft FL-910S.

Takes the challenge of guessing what filter i need when i go shopping because it's the same filter that my focus uses.

Re: DEA motor mounts any good?

PO put in a POS anchor upper torque strut, which promply cracked when I tried to torque it to spec after filling it. Only mounts I've seen online are anchor and DEA ($19 + shipping). Are the DEA mounts any good? I may just pull one from a junkyard... Did you get yours from rockauto? also see my rev...

Well, for the cost difference...
I totally agree. You get what you pay for.

Anyone have oem part numbers and prices? Couldn't find them in the part number section.

here's a picture of the casting job. I looks like they used some sort of grinder to smooth out the seam. Compared to the OEM this looks like hell.

Scratch the surface a bit. Might be painted inserts. The out side piece that holds the rubber is metal... poorly casted metal

out of curiosity was "anchor" the cheapest brand on rock auto for these torque struts?
The only brand.

On the driver's side? :-k I would say it sounds like a bad pulley or pump, but that'd mostly be on the passenger side.... A leak in your vacuum lines could possibly cause a howling, seeing as how it changes when you put load on the system. driver side is where you can hear it the most. I'm not 100%...

kinda sorta no and yes... The part of the air box that goes down and into the fender got removed cause of hitting a fox 3 years ago. I removed that stuff 3 years ago and never noticed the sound until now so I'm fairly certain this isn't the cause of the issue.

Howling at idle

Hey the neon is making a howling noise at idle. When we come to a stop it howls or when its in N right after we start it up it howls. It does this when warmed up or when cold. If i introduce a load, like turning the wheel all the way to lock it goes away, or when I'm cruising down the h/w or even le...

During the install of my Gates racing upper and lower cooling hoses I also used gates PowerGrip thermoplasic hose clamps. I used sizes SB41 for the upper and SB48 for the lower. I assume you have the 40TE, since you have an 04. I skimmed through the 40TE section of the FSM, and it looks like there is no such sensor on the unit. The only electronics whatsoever are the solenoid assemblies, and input and output speed sensors, the latter doubling as the VSS. What made you thin...

Read the transmission fluid temp (tft) with out having to waste more money buying an actual gauge. Some one some where has to know these. I know the car has one.

My overall goal is to get an aftermarket cooler I just want to make sure that the one I do get isn't over or undersized.
