The napa brand mount is good quality as well, got around 30k on mine so far with no trouble. It seems they used two styles of center mount, one regular and one filled with viscous fluid. From my experience, the viscous fluid units seem to last much longer. I have had no issues with my '01's mount. a...

Can't you just unplug it? I vaguely remember reading that it disables the switch when you do that. Who leaves their car in gear when parking anyway?

The fluid only has to be slightly low to set that light off, you wouldn't even consider it low just looking at it. It tends to happen when the pads have worn pretty low dropping the fluid level a little bit.

I see, it's probably easier to make all of them with the cooler instead of 2 different models. I should probably pick one up locally just in case I need to bring it back and swap it out. Having to ship it back somewhere would just be a hassle.

The spectra was actually the one I was looking at, probably gonna go with that one. I notice some are listed as w/o AC and w/ HD cooling, not sure what that means. Some are listed as auto specific, while some are listed as working for both. I realize the auto ones have the built in cooler, but they ...

Radiator

Got into a little accident and the radiator has a leak, so it needs to be replaced. Figured I would check to see if there is a particular brand I should look for, or if there are ones I should avoid. They all seem to be around $100 for a manual trans model. Rather go with a new one instead of a junk...

It's not just the timing belt that craps out, the tensioner and water pump cause the same damage when they fail.

And for the love of god, replace the rear engine mount while it's all apart. It seems like it always fails soon after people do their timing belt.

It seems like a lot of money right now, but in the long run it really isn't. You just had a worst case scenario, but you should be problem free for a couple years after all that.

Isn't there a vent on the top that will puke out fluid if you overfill the trans? Hopefully it's not the rear main seal, but I think the clutch would be slipping if that was the case. If you over fill it will leak out the fill hole which is lower than the top of the tranny. Unless you're filling it...

Holy jeez, I've never seen the water pump gear break like that. I'd guess it's a defect, you would think the belt would break first.

Probably cheaper to just replace the bent valves, but having a complete head on hand to replace is probably easier.

My lock cylinder broke so it was stuck, key wouldn't turn so I couldn't pull it out. Had to remove the entire column and take it to a locksmith.

The neon engine is too big to fit in the mini, I think it was like 4" too wide. Plus the mini doesn't have room in front for our p/s and a/c setup, it needs custom brackets to run the mini setup.

From what I've read, chrysler and bmw had a joint venture with the 1.6. Chrysler designed it for bmw to use in the mini, and they got to use it on export neon/pt cruisers. They said the design is inspired by our 2.0 sohc motor, just smaller. BMW used a different 1.6 engine from 2007-2013 from a new ...

I ran into the same problem, the rod is like 1/2" too short to get the pulley all the way off. You just need to stick something down into the rod hole to get that extra length.
