i lucked out ... it is just the bushing ... fixing to send you an email Jeff... and i just wanted to add this in case anyone else finds this thread while searching... it looks like it may have worked loose some (or may not have been pressed in place fully when i put in the shifter a few years ago) a...

that is fine by me then ... the last one it happened to didn't really melt ... was more of a crack and crumble i just figured it was the weather... or just the very rare piece ...

i will know for sure tomorrow if it is bushing or cable end

well technically the ones on the shifter are still part of the first set ... which may have been bad i dont know hah ... they are from 2001 - 02 ...

but i hope its just the bushing

no not from removing them ... just from the heat and such breaking em down after a while in the engine compartment ... would be the first ones to go out on the shifter ... having to wait till morning time so she can send me a better photo... but i am thinking that may be what it is ... at least i ho...

boogers is what is in there now ... along with an ummm madddog shifter i think it is? been a while since i ordered it ...

but all that was put in close to 3 to 4 years ago

looking through that right now to see if i can find it ... i am getting her to send me some pics now on my cell phone so i can make for sure it is the cable end and not the bushing ... but it sounds like the bushing from what she said ... whatever it ends up being i need to get it ordered so the par...

need assistance, broken shifter cable end (2001 neon)

okay i have an issue, the main cable that connects to the bottom of the manual shifter on my wifes neon ... has busted ... the plastic housing on the end of the cable that would support the bushing is in about 15 peices ... i am close to 800 miles away right now on job training ... so i can not look...

heh i got called a ricer the other day, for installing a long tube header and full exhaust system onto my new car (which i might mention that the new system is just barely louder then the stock setup) i have always thought it is all just a point of view ... one persons rice is another persons ride ....

well as of today, i traded off my 2007 chevy silverado for a Scion xB ... so far i couldn't be happier ... hah, these little things have a lot more room in them then i was expecting .. and the power and handling is nice for a stock setup, nice enough to keep me happy ... got sick of the truck, from ...

to get those bolts loose .. you need a 1/2 inch breakover bar ... with about a 2 foot handle ... and a quality torx bit (or buy one from autozone so you can return it when you are done breakin... i mean removing the back seat) they are on quite tight ... if i had to guess i would say 80 to 120ft/lb ...

yeah, its a lot of work involved to paint it to ... not like older cars and trucks that you can just tape stuff off ...

most of the engine bay in a neon you can't get to without removing a lot of stuff

just for the hell of it ... Saturday afternoon after work i got to go on my first official 'trail ride' ... it was at the bike park in Ruston LA ... met up with 2 others from town and went over there ... started off on the normal trail .. and after a mile into it .. it kicked my butt ... going downh...
